    Auction Estimate:

This 1971 Porsche 911T was sold new in California and features an electric sunroof, factory A/C, comfort equipment, and optional 5-speed transmission. It remained with the original owner in California until his passing, at which point it was acquired by the seller last year. The numbers matching 2.2L flat-six had not run in 15 years when the car was pulled from storage by the seller, and considerable maintenance has subsequently been performed to recommission this example for the road. Work included rebuilding the Zenith carburetors, cleaning the fuel system and tank, installing a new cap and rotor, replacing the front brake lines, adding new plugs and wires, rebuilding the axles, and more as detailed below. This longhood 911 is now being offered with its original California blue plates, receipts from the refresh and the original owner, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean New Jersey title in the seller’s name.

Finished in Light Yellow (62) from the factory, the car was repainted in its current black at an unknown point in its past. Later front bumperettes were present on the car when it was acquired by the seller and have since been removed. The original fog light covers, spare tire, jack, washer bottle, and pump are included, as are the California blue plates. The CoA verifies that this car was optioned with a factory electric sunroof, and the Fuchs-style wheels are mounted with older Champiro tires.

Black leatherette with houndstooth inserts was optioned from the factory and the current interior is believed to be original to the car. The covers shows some looseness visible on the seat bottoms, and wear can also be seen on the steering wheel rim. The seller states that the dash has no cracking, and a JVC radio has replaced the factory unit. The car was optioned with A/C from the factory and the odometer shows a believed accurate 95,749 miles.

Power comes from the numbers-matching 2.2L flat-six, which is mated to the original 5-speed manual transmission. The car has not been run in many years when it was pulled from storage by the seller, and considerable servicing was performed in order to get the car back on the road. The Zenith carbs were rebuilt, and a new CDI control unit was added along with a new ignition cap, rotor, spark plugs, points, and wires. The fuel tank was steam cleaned and the fuel system flushed. The car has been driven about 400 miles by the seller and posted the following compression numbers in a recent test:

    Cyl. 1 – 128 lbs
    Cyl. 2 – 125 lbs
    Cyl. 3 – 128 lbs
    Cyl. 4 – 124 lbs
    Cyl. 5 – 126 lbs
    Cyl. 6 – 128 lbs

The front brake lines were also replaced and the braking system was bled. The axles were rebuilt and various fuses were cleaned or updated. Multiple undercarriage photos have been provided by the seller and can be seen in the gallery. Engine stamping #6114991 can be seen and is confirmed as original by the CoA. The Porsche CoA shows the original colors, confirms the engine and transmission number, and displays the factory options. Records indicate the clutch was last replaced in 1999, and multiple other records dating back to 1998 are included in the sale along with receipts from the seller’s refurbishment. A walk around and start up video have been provided by the seller.

    Auction Description:

Offered here is one of just 583 911T Targas produced for that year, built half-way through the model run. Other than a single re-spray in its factory color of 8110 Silver Metallic, it appears to be in largely original condition with a matching-numbers drivetrain. There are some paint chips and small spots of rust in the door jamb areas. The multi-ribbed aluminum engine grille is in excellent condition. The removable soft top panel, black leatherette interior with basketweave inserts in the seats and door cards and carpets are all original and in good condition, although the seats show some wear and the door pockets need repair, a common issue with cars of this age. Both front seats have optional headrests, and this car retains its original Blaupunkt AM/FM stereo radio system. This car was equipped with the optional "Appearance Package", which included gold-plated letters on the engine cover, stainless steel rocker trim, wider bumper deco strips, and aluminum threshold covers. It wears a set of Porsche's iconic five-spoke Fuchs alloy wheels. All the lamps and lenses present well.

This 911T Targa features a fixed glass rear window with integral heating, which replaced the earliest zip-out soft-window seen on the earliest Targas. With Bosch capacitive-discharge ignition and a pair of Zenith downdraft triple-choke carburetors, this under-stressed 2.2 liter engine with cast-iron cylinders produces a modest 125 bhp at 5800 rpm and 130 foot-pounds of torque at 4200 rpm. The engine compartment appears original save for a pair of K&N air filters. The odometer indicated 23,717 miles at the time of cataloguing, but wear on the car suggest(s) an additional 100,000 miles; still a very reasonable total for its age. It is described as being in good running and driving condition.

This attractive 991T is supplied with a correct spare and owner's manuals. Interest in the early long-hood 911 series has shown strong growth in recent years, making this low-production 911T an attractive starting point for restoration or to simply enjoy as a weekend driver.

    CPR Description:

Prior to our purchase the engine and gearbox was overhauled and the car has traveled only several thousand miles since. The car is correct and all matching numbers as per its COA.

Overall this 911T is a stunning example that will be perfect for someone that likes to drive and enjoy their car while still cosmetically more than nice enough to take to shows. The car corners very nicely and has an overall tight, sorted feel. Additional A/C upgrades are available as well if the customer desires.

    Auction Description:

This, 1971 left-hand drive, 911 T was imported by our vendor in 2005 from California and has been in his ownership ever since. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity shows the original color combination as “Gemini Blue Metallic with a black leather interior” and was ordered with comfort equipment, sunroof, coloured windows, and alloy wheels.

Our vendor has spent around £9,500 on the car during his ownership and there are receipts for the various works carried out in the history file along with some older MOTs. Unfortunately, any history prior to our vendor's purchase has been lost. We understand that the first MOT certificate during his tenure from 2005 shows a mileage of 7,935 (probably having been around the clock) and the indicated mileage is now 14,089, so he has only completed around 500 miles a year in the vehicle. The vendor has also replaced the front and rear bumpers with period 911 'S' style which really suits the car and treated it to a respray in its original Gemini Blue. The car has always been garaged whilst residing on these shores and this lovely old 911 appears to be in a good honest condition throughout.

The pure unadorned, unfettered, unmolested lines of early 911s are iconic in the proper sense of the word, and it's easy to see why these cars really set the benchmark in sports car design in the late sixties.

    Auction Description:

This early 911 was imported into the UK from California in 2003 by its current owner with the intention of keeping it as original as possible with sensible upgrades to enable it to be used for classic rally events. It was fitted with towing eyes, bonnet straps, a fire extinguisher, Hella spotlights, and door roundels, etc. although in the event, the car was never used in rallies as other plans intervened. It was used for touring, however, and our enthusiast vendor has “ fond memories of touring the Black Forest in Germany where it never missed a beat and courted attention wherever it went”.

During his tenure, the 911 received regular attention including a new steering lock, new high torque starter motor, new light assemblies, Continental Premium tyres, new indicator stalk, and relay etc. A replacement Bosch distributor with new cap, rotor arm, leads, and coil was fitted at a cost of £500, and the car benefitted from an upgraded timing chain tensioner kit including new camshaft seals at a cost exceeding £1,000. The suspension was stripped and new shocks fitted, also costing around £1,000.

Provided with the Porsche are confirmation that all customs duties have been paid, the V948 Number Plate Authorisation Certificate, the V5C in the current owner's name, invoices relating to most of the above work, and the MOT expiring in September 2018. Historic road tax expires at the end of August 2018.

According to our vendor, he is “Only selling as the car is not being used nearly enough and deserves a new owner to enjoy”. Early 911s are becoming increasingly topical and this smart and sensibly guided 911T deserves a look.

    Auction Description:

This 1973 Porsche 911T Coupe has been verified by councours judges to retain all of its factory paint, upholstery, glass, and trim, as well as the numbers-matching CIS 2.4-liter flat-six and original 5-speed manual transmission. Now showing 87,615 miles, the car was built in February 1973 and is finished in Sepia Brown (54) over brown leatherette (21). It was optioned with US equipment, a Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio, light metal wheels, comfort equipment, and tinted glass. This 911T was sold new at Porsche Audi of Avon, Connecticut on June 12, 1973 to a Mr. Daly, and it remained primarily in-state and on the East Coast according to the selling dealer. The car has been kept stock aside from H4 headlight lenses and removal of the front bumperettes, which are included with the sale. A recent service by local Porsche specialist Kevin McCarthy prepared it for road use. The vehicle was reportedly found to be so authentic that the shop held, studied, and documented it for an entire year as a blueprint for future restorations. This 911T is now being offered with a 275+ photo gallery, original books and manuals, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean Texas title.

A thorough inspection by concours judges has been completed, which included partial disassembly to verify originality. According to the results, the car retains all of its factory-applied paint in addition to correct Dura, Thiesen, and Kamax bolts throughout. The seller has provided paint meter readings in the extensive photo gallery below. The US-spec front bumperettes have been removed but are included with the sale, while the sugar scoop headlights have been upgraded with H4 lenses. These are the only known modifications according to the seller. The original Fuchs alloy wheels display correct date-stampings, with each corner highlighted in the photo gallery. A matching date-coded spare is contained in the front trunk, which is completely detailed in the photo gallery as well.

The cabin has also been verified as remaining in original condition, including the upholstery, glass, carpets, and trim. Per the photo gallery, the door panels feature their factory plastic backing, velour in the door pockets, and bungee cords. A set of period Porsche-branded Coco mats are also included. The seller states that all carpeting and vinyl are in well-preserved condition, including the crack-free dashboard. Additionally, all lights, switches, signals, gauges, the radio, wipers, and the horn are reportedly working as they should. The 87,615 miles displayed on the odometer is believed correct based on known history and documentation.

This 911T retains its original CIS 2.4-liter flat-six, which is paired to a numbers-matching 5-speed transmission. The engine remains unmodified to the seller’s knowledge, and it received an inspection, service, and tune-up in June 2017. A compression check was recently completed, and the readings from all cylinders are shown in the photo gallery. The seller states that the car performs well. The factory stamping for engine number 6133846, and transmission stamping 7336722. Both of these numbers match the Certificate of Authenticity. The undercarriage is extensively detailed in the photo gallery and is noted to retain original coatings, finishes, and body plugs. Just prior to this auction, the car received a top to bottom 40-hour steam cleaning and detail. Accompanying items include the original owner’s manual and maintenance record booklet in the factory pouch, the emissions control system pamphlet, Hirschmann antenna key with card, and all Blaupunkt Frankfurt manuals/warranty cards, including the matching radio serial number. The original tool kit and jack also come with the car, as does the original date-coded spare in the front trunk. Recently, this 911T was displayed at the 2017 PCA Werks Reunion in California.

Not ONE photo of the engine bay or interior? Either trying to hide something or the dealer has no idea what buyers want to see.

    Paperwork is cool though.
