    BaT Description:

This 1970 Porsche 911T Targa is a black-on-black example that was sold new in Vancouver, British Columbia fitted with US equipment. It was eventually brought to Washington State by its original owner of 46 years, and was acquired by the seller on BaT in August 2018. Less than 400 miles have been added since. Power comes from the numbers-matching 2.2L flat-six, which is paired with the original 4-speed manual transaxle. The seller recently had over $4k in work completed to improve some of the front-end issues mentioned during the previous listing. The brake and fuel lines were also replaced, and additional work is outlined below. This 911T is now offered with service records beginning in the early 1980s, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean Ohio title in the seller’s name.

The car features Canadian-market headlights, as well as optional Halogen fog lights mounted both above and below the front bumper. A repaint in the factory black (10) was completed by a previous owner after the vehicle was keyed. The targa top was also repaired under previous ownership. Polished 15″ Fuchs wheels are mounted with 205/65 Dunlop D60 tires. The front trunk contains a full-sized spare along with a jack and tool kit.

The previous owner stated that the driver’s seat had been reupholstered in vinyl. Leather still covers the passenger seat, with a split seam present in the lower cushion. The factory steering wheel and AM/FM stereo has been retained, while aftermarket speakers are installed in the interior panels. The 5-digit odometer indicates just over 41k miles miles. It has likely rolled over twice according to the seller and included records.

The numbers-matching 2.2L flat-six sends power to the rear wheels through the original 4-speed manual transaxle. The engine and transmission were reportedly rebuilt approximately 75k miles ago when the odometer showed 65k miles. In 2018, the alternator belt, engine and transmission oil, filters, and brake fluid were replaced. The seller recently spent over $4k on a service entailing a new front suspension pan, fuel tank support and seal, fuel hoses, stainless steel front brake lines, a carburetor adjustment, wiring repairs, and more as itemized on the above invoice. In the previous listing, the seller mentioned an engine oil leak, however the current owner states that following the recent service work it appears to have stopped. A stack of prior maintenance records since the early 1980s accompanies the sale. Engine #6102576 and gearbox #7000511 both match the CoA as original to this car.

Some corrosion is present in the front trunk area and underside. Note that underside photos are from the previous listing in August 2018 less than 400 miles ago. The Certificate of Authenticity shows that this 911T was delivered in black over black leather with US equipment, bumper horns, headrests, 15×6″ light metal wheels, 911S instrumentation, a 911S oil tank, over/under halogen fog lights, white Porsche door script, and tinted glass all around. The original chassis, engine, and transmission numbers are also listed.

Probably shouldn't have but they did...

Family project that didn't end particularly well for the car.

I know what you mean. I cringed as I looked over the photos. Makes me feel really bad for the poor guy now trying to sell it.

Hermaphrodite at BHCC. I went to the Litte Shop of Horrors yesterday to look at a couple cars for a client.

    This one stood out.

"1973" with 73S VIN tag on a-pillar (not a kosher one). Hood is not accessible to view chassis stamp. 1972 oil system. Chassis has 'banana-ed' to the point that the Targa top has fallen into the car. Left door will no longer close. Underbody pics show it's a Flintstones Tribute.

Maybe I have beer goggles but I really like this car. I find the original leather seats and green recliner sticker particularly fetching.

A real shame if this doesn't double in the next 24 hours.
