    Dealer Description:

Now available from CPR Classic Sales is this stunning Silver over Black leather 1973 911T. This original blue-plate California car with extensive documentation was acquired by CPR and completely gone through and upgraded. This included a complete mechanical inspection, new Euro H4 headlights, new front and rear signal lenses, new Koni shocks, suspension bushings, paint correction along with repaint of the front and rear bumpers and a complete color sand and buff.

Prior to our purchase, the engine and gearbox were overhauled and the car has traveled only several thousand miles since. The car is correct and has all matching numbers as per its COA and has traveled 107,000 miles since new. More recently, the engine was built by CPR Classic to 2.4E spec.

Air conditioning was added following the photo shoot of this 911T. An upgraded R134 air compressor was installed as part of this addition.

Overall, this 911T is a stunning example that will be perfect for someone who likes to drive and enjoy their car while still providing cosmetics polished enough to take to shows. The car corners very nicely and has an overall tight, well-balanced feel.

This 911T is the perfect example of a trouble-free, fully-sorted 911. With the remarkable prices that 911S cars are commanding these days, a high-quality 911T such as this is an excellent way to get into a long-hood 911 at a much more affordable price point.

911S- and RS-spec engine upgrades are also available at additional cost if the new owner prefers.

    BaT Description:

This 1973 Porsche 911T coupe was manufactured in August of 1972 and left the factory finished in Aubergine over black leatherette. Power is provided by a replacement 2.4L injected flat-six, which is paired with a 915 five-speed manual gearbox. The seller acquired the car in 2015 and began a refurbishment the following year. Work included a glass-out repaint and refreshing the interior, as well as rebuilding the gearbox, fuel system, suspension, and brakes. Fuchs wheels came fitted from the factory, and aftermarket hollow torsion bars have been added along with Bilstein shocks, SSI heat exchangers, and a dual-outlet Dansk muffler. This 911T is now offered with its original 2.4-liter engine, a factory tool kit and jack, records from recent service, a Porsche Production Specifications certificate, owner’s manual, and a clear California title in the seller’s name.

The body was refinished in the factory Aubergine (40) with Spies Hecker paint by Altissimo Restoration of Napa County, California. A steel 911S bumper was installed up front, and a set of chrome rear bumperettes replace the factory-installed rubber units. The original rear bumperettes are included with the sale. Replacement turn signal lenses, body seals, and a Sigla windshield were installed during reassembly.

The 15×6″ and 15×7” Fuchs wheels feature anodized spokes with black inlays and wear BFGoodrich Advantage T/A Sport radials. A Fuchs spare resides in the front compartment. The brake system received a new master cylinder, calipers, and hoses during the refurbishment. The suspension has been rebuilt and mildly upgraded as follows:

    - Sander Engineering hollow torsion bars – 21mm front and 28mm rear
    - New bushings from Porsche and Elephant Racing
    - Later-model aluminum trailing arms
    - Turbo tie rods from Lemforder
    - New front Bilstein HD strut inserts
    - New rear Bilstein HD shocks
    - Factory 15mm through-body front sway bar

The front seats have been reupholstered by Autos International, and a new headliner and carpet were also installed. The leather-wrapped 400mm steering wheel wears a 1972 production date. Some parts of a dealer-installed A/C system remain fitted, though it is inoperable. The VDO gauges have been serviced, and the clock was converted to quartz. 15k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, approximately 1k of which were added by the seller over the past four years.

The 2.4-liter flat-six originated in a 1972 911E and received a valve adjustment and reseal before being installed following the repaint. New oil and fuel lines were also installed. The MFI pump was sent to Mark Jung’s MFI Works for service and calibration at this time. A recent compression test reportedly revealed approximately 150 psi across all six cylinders. A rebuilt 915 transaxle transmits power to the rear wheels.

The Porsche Production Specifications certificate lists a completion date in August 1972, as well as the factory equipment and original configuration of Aubergine over black leatherette. The numbers-matching (*6139050*) 2.4L engine is included with the sale. Records from the refurbishment are included along with an assortment of period sales material featuring an Aubergine 911.

    Auction Description:

    - Unrestored
    - Sold new at Martin-Johnson Porsche in Oakland, California
    - In second owner's care since 1974
    - Garage-stored from 1992-2012
    - Air-cooled 2.2L 6-cylinder engine
    - 5-speed manual gearbox
    - Brakes, shocks and struts replaced in 2012
    - Factory air conditioning
    - Factory sunroof
    - Silver wheels refinished in 2012
    - Believed to be 72,200 miles since new
    - Maintenance booklet with service stamps
    - Owner's manual and tool kit
    - Original spare and jack

This 1971 Porsche 911T Coupe was delivered new to the Martin-Johnson Porsche and Audi Sports and Import Center in Oakland, California. Known locally as the “Enthusiast's Store,” the downtown dealer leased the coupe to an area-company executive. It was purportedly driven regularly by the executive’s wife before returning to Martin-Johnson once the lease period had expired. The current owner purchased the car when it came off-lease in 1974, and the vehicle has never left the San Francisco Bay Area. After nearly 18 years of enjoyment, the coupe was taken off the road in 1992 and stowed away for long-term storage. It wasn’t until two decades later, in 2012, that the 911T was pulled out of hibernation. Many parts were refreshed and updated, including new disc brakes, shocks and struts. The original, silver-painted wheels were also refinished, returning them to their 1971 splendor. Power comes from an air-cooled 2.2L 6-cylinder engine. Gears are selected through a 5-speed manual transmission, and stopping power is aided with the aforementioned disc brakes. Inside the coupe’s cabin, there’s seating for four, and the original black vinyl upholstery is intact. The car is equipped with desirable factory air conditioning, but for those who want to feel the wind in their hair, the factory sunroof more than satisfies that urge. Driven 72,200 believed-original miles, this performance-oriented vehicle retains some wonderful mementos from its past, including its original owner’s manual, tool kit and original maintenance booklet, which was stamped for each service performed at Martin-Johnson. It also retains its factory-installed spare tire and jack. An unrestored example that has been in the loving care of the same owner for 45 years, this 911T is offered with receipts for the repairs and work that total more than $22,000.

    BaT Description:

This 1971 Porsche 911T Targa is finished in black over black and was sold new in Hamburg, Germany in June 1971. Factory equipment included US specifications, comfort equipment, leather seats, stabilizer bars, and Fuchs wheels. Documentation states that the original owner relocated the car to London in 1974 and brought it to the US in 1981 before settling in Durango, Colorado. According to the selling dealer, the second owner purchased the car in 2000 and moved it to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Power comes from a numbers-matching 2.2-liter flat-six, which is paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. The clutch was replaced in February 2019, and receipts document a top-end engine rebuild in 1996. This 911 is now offered in Scottsdale, Arizona with service records from 1982-2000, original purchase paperwork, and a clean New Mexico title.

The exterior is pictured from multiple angles in the gallery with the targa top installed and removed. The top has been refurbished according to the seller, who performed a paint correction process after acquiring the vehicle. A sticker from the original selling dealer remains affixed to the windshield. The 15″ Fuchs alloy wheels wear 195/65 Dunlop SP Sport 5000 tires, including the trunk-mounted spare shown in the gallery. The car is equipped with European-style headlight rings, as well as chrome lower rocker trim and gold Porsche lettering on the engine lid.

According to original sales documentation, this car was optioned with leather upholstery from the factory. Both door pockets were recently refurbished, and an aftermarket wrap covers the rim of the four-spoke steering wheel. VDO instrumentation includes a 150-mph speedometer and a centrally-located tachometer. The five-digit odometer indicates 30k miles and has rolled over at least once. Approximately 300 miles were added by the seller over the past nine months. A crack is visible in the upper dash.

The 2.2-liter flat-six retains twin Zenith carburetors, which are topped with K&N housings and filters. This car was delivered with a four-speed transaxle. Per the seller, a new clutch was installed in February 2019. Maintenance receipts cover 1982-2000 along with more recent work, and an invoice for a top-end rebuild in 1996 is said to be present. Stamping *6117534* matches the original financing statement, indicating that the engine is original to the car. Equipped with rear Bilstein shocks.

Several documents pertaining to the original ownership and purchase process are provided. An invoice from Raffay Volkswagen/Porsche of Hamburg, Germany lists the factory equipment along with a new price of DM 28,841.35.

    BaT Description:

This 1972 Porsche 911T is finished in Silver Metallic over a black interior with houndstooth inserts, and powered by a numbers-matching 2.4-liter flat-six paired with the original 5-speed manual gearbox. Factory equipment includes 15″ Fuchs wheels, front and rear anti-sway bars, and Koni shocks. The selling dealer is the proprietor of a German automotive repair shop, and his father purchased the car in 2015. A mechanical service was subsequently performed by the seller, which addressed the steering, brake, ignition, and fuel systems, as outlined in the listing below. The seller and his father then performed a cosmetic refresh, which included paintwork, rust repair, as well as new windshield and seal. This 911T is now being offered in California with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, owner’s manual, invoices from recent service, and a clear Washington title in the seller’s father’s name.

A repaint in the factory Silver Metallic was performed sometime prior to the current owner’s 2015 acquisition, at which time the fiberglass S-type front splitter bumper is believed to have been installed. During the 2017 refresh, the lower section of the passenger door was re-skinned and repainted. Other paint blemishes were repaired at this time, and a new windshield and seal were installed. The rear windshield was removed and reinstalled with a new seal and the defroster grid was restored. Imperfections are noted in the paint, as is some misalignment where the passenger-side front fender meets the bumper.

The car is equipped with a set of 15×6” Fuchs wheels, including the spare. Closeups of the casting numbers and stampings on the backs of the wheels are provided in the gallery below. Aluminum 911S calipers are fitted up front, and the brake system benefits from a new master cylinder, rear calipers, and hoses.

The interior is trimmed in black leatherette with houndstooth inserts on the front seats. New carpet, headliner, door panels, and a recovered steering wheel from Autos International were installed during the 2017 refresh. All interior materials were sourced from Autos International. The clock and Blaupunkt radio have both been repaired. A 1972 914 speedometer was installed in the car when the seller’s father acquired it. He subsequently sourced a correct 1972 911T unit showing 89k miles and had it rebuilt. Approximately 100 miles have been added by the current owner, though true chassis mileage is unknown.

The 2.4-liter flat-six is equipped with Bosch MFI and paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. An engine-out service was performed by the current owner selling dealer’s shop in 2017, including a rebuild of the MFI pump by Pacific Fuel Injection. New ignition components, fuel and oil filters, an electric fuel pump, and a fuel tank were installed at this time. Oil-fed Carrera chain tensioners were added under previous ownership, during a reported engine rebuild. Stamping *6123099* matches the included Porsche CoA. Transaxle stamping 7327627 and also matches the CoA.

Koni shocks are installed at each corner, and the steering system benefits from a newer set of Turbo tie-rod ends. The Porsche CoA lists a production completion date in April 1972, as well as the original colors and equipment.

    Auction Description:

    - 1972 external oil filler lid car
    - Flat-6 engine
    - Green exterior
    - Black interior
    - Sunroof
    - Air conditioning

Finished in the factory-correct and highly desirable Irish Green with a contrasting black interior, this 1972 Porsche 911T Coupe is generously optioned with factory air conditioning, the “S” appearance group, Fuchs alloy wheels, 5-speed manual gearbox, electric sunroof and an “S” front chin spoiler. The 1972 model year is regarded by many as an epic year for the 911. It is instantly recognizable by its one-year-only oil filler lid located on the right rear fender—done by Porsche to relocate the oil tank for the dry-sump lubrication system in a more forward location to optimize weight distribution. Although it proved to be a good engineering solution, irresponsible gas station attendants were known to mistakenly add gasoline instead. By 1972, Porsche had incorporated a plethora of engineering and design changes to the 911 that dramatically improved the driving dynamics and aesthetic appearance. The improvements included increasing the wheelbase by 2.2 inches to increase high-speed stability, the fitment of larger contact-patch wheels and tires to aid cornering grip, and the flaring of the front and rear fender arches to both allow wider tires and refine the overall appearance. For 1972, Porsche increased the displacement on the flat-6 horizontally opposed engine from 2.2L to 2.4L. This was achieved through a 4.4mm increase to the stroke and a 1mm increase to the bore. This had a beneficial impact to the low-end torque and maintained optimal performance in the face of ever stringent emission-control laws. The stance on this particular 911T coupe is superb, with it being set to a lowered European ride-height specification. The anodized-finish Fuchs wheels are complemented by the “S” appearance group and front chin spoiler to deliver the final visual impact and presence that this car deserves.

    Auction Description:

Incredibly restored and one of only 289 2.4T Mechanical Fuel Injection (MFi) cars.

    - This F-Series, left-hand drive, 2.4T MFi was first registered in February 1973 and supplied by Porsche America in its original colour of Light Ivory White
    - Bought from Silverstone Auctions in 2016 and stripped to the last nut and bolt prior to a two year rebuild
    - Engine totally rebuilt with new pistons and liners, all bearings crank and heads rebuilt etc
    - The important MFI pump fully reconditioned by Andy Prill Classic Porsche specialists
    - Rebuild carried out by Anthony Seddon Classics. Invoices for in excess of £100,000
    - This is a matching numbers, very rare model that has been restored to a level barely seen

Introduced in September 1963 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Porsche 901 concept heralded the start of a production run that even Porsche probably couldn't have imagined, and now into its sixth decade, the Porsche 911 is still the model that underpins the whole Porsche range. At the Paris Auto Show in October 1964, French car maker Peugeot formally objected to the use of model numbers '901' so, before the end of 1964, Porsche changed the designation of their flagship model to 911. By the end of 1972 Porsche was ready to release its latest series of 911. The 1973 'F-Series' is considered by many purists as the definitive and most coveted 911, the final series before the vastly different impact bumper 'G-Series'. By 1973 the engine capacity had increased to 2.4 litres and the top of the range model was the, soon to be, iconic 2.7 Carrera RS.

In early 1973, Porsche made a small number of 2.4T Mechanical Fuel Injection (MFi) cars in a short run in-between the 1972 2.4T side oil-fill model and the later 1973 2.4 CIS Injection and Zenith Carburettor models. By the end of February 1973, the 2.4T MFi production run ended in favour of the less powerful but more emission friendly CIS injection, and in total Porsche produced less than three hundred 2.4T MFi cars, rendering this 1973 2.4T MFI a very rare model indeed.

This F-Series, left-hand drive, 2.4T MFi was first registered in February 1973 and supplied by Porsche America in its original colour of Light Ivory White, considered by many as one of the most beautiful 70s colours on offer at that time. Used very sparingly for its first 12 years from 1973 to 1985, it was decided in late 1985 that a colour change to Guards Red would be appropriate and so the car was taken off the road to prepare it for its new 'coat of colours'. However, little progress was made over the ensuing years, and the car remained unfinished for the next 30 years, fortunately, stored in a temperature controlled garage, hence its wonderfully rust-free condition. Given the time the car was off the road, the indicated mileage of 22,582 miles may well be correct, although we are unable to confirm this.

The car was purchased by our vendor from Silverstone Auctions in 2016 with the intention of carrying out a full restoration of this rare Porsche. Rust free it may have been but the California heat had not been kind to the car so it was taken back to the original steel by hand with no chemical dipping involved. Once stripped, it was clear that it had never been welded and remained free of rust, so a two-year rebuild was commenced, only finished a few months ago, that results in the spectacular 911 on offer here.

Having been stripped to the last nut and bolt, everything plastic or rubber has been renewed. The engine was totally rebuilt with new pistons and liners, all bearings, crank and heads rebuilt to 'as new' condition and the important MFI Pump was fully reconditioned by Andy Prill Classic Porsche specialists.

The gearbox was stripped and rebuilt by a Porsche specialist, the original suspension totally restored to 'as new' by Koni, and every last nut and bolt has been restored or renewed with genuine parts. Naturally, the interior was restored to the same standard and all dials and gauges were fully restored.

The majority of the rebuild was entrusted to Anthony Seddon Classics Historic F1 specialists who are renowned for their fastidious attention to detail and a desire to get the car as close to new as possible. We understand all this attention attracted invoices in excess of £105,000.

Our vendor commissioned local Porsche specialists to use the car for a short period to assess the restoration and they said “We have driven the car 100s of miles to shakedown and ensure it is all good for the next lucky owner. This car drives superbly and is without a doubt one of, if not the the best MFi available and as one of only 289 2.4 cars so fitted, it's a rare 911”.

Guided very sensibly, considering its restoration cost, we welcome any inspection of this fabulous Porsche.
