This car was owned by an elder gentlemen who bought the car in 1972. From 1972 until present, he maintained and loved this car. Original California car with solid- original floors. This car is a show-stopper and gets looks everywhere.

The body lines are almost perfect and every panels lines up perfectly. You will not find a early 911 coupe is this shape. The interior is very presentable and looks amazing.

This is definitely an early 911 that you can take around the shows and be proud of it. The engine is believed to be matching and the car runs well. This car comes with a folder full of records =)

    PCAR Description:

We are pleased to present this 1971 Porsche 911T Targa finished in crowd favorite Albert Blue over a Black leatherette interior. This example has been part of a private collection since 2010 and has recently been refreshed with a new Targa top and an engine out mechanical overhaul. This 911T is now being offered for auction by the current owner in New Jersey with fewer than 76k miles on the odometer.

Refinished some years ago in Albert Blue, which many consider to be one of the most desirable colors from the era. It would be difficult for even the keenest eye to discover the car's original color of Burgundy. This exterior color beautifully complements the sweeping metal work of classic 911’s and provides an appealing contrast to the abundant chrome trimming throughout the exterior. The seller notes the exterior to be in driver’s condition with areas of pitting, chips and scrapes from road use over the years. Detailed exterior images are provided in the photo gallery. The Albert Blue paint is accentuated by a recovered and refinished Targa top and a set of European H4 headlights. The stance is completed with original 15x6 Fuchs wheels that come wrapped in Michelin tires.

The classic Black leatherette interior with houndstooth inserts is stated to be in excellent condition. This well-cared for example features rare added sport seats that utilize more aggressive bolster support to hold the passengers in place during spirited cornering. An aftermarket Sony Bluetooth head unit and custom under dash speakers have been installed to provide a more modern approach to in-car entertainment. The seller notes that all gauges, electronic components, and accessories are fully functional aside from the turn signal – which must be held down to function.

This 911T retains its original carbureted 2.2L flat-six engine developing approximately 125 HP and is connected to a factory 5-speed 901 gearbox. Performance is enhanced by a 911 S front suspension and braking system. A major engine out service was completed in 2016 which included a new alternator, chain tensioners, valve adjustment, lower engine valance covers, plugs, wires, oil tank, and new rear shocks. A detailed log of all worked performed is included in the galley. The thorough maintenance performed by the current owner ensures this vehicle remains in excellent mechanical condition.

The 1971 911T Targa enjoyed a limited production run of only 1,523 units for the model year, making this example a highly collectible piece of Porsche history. The bulletproof 901 gearbox and properly maintained carbureted flat-six engine contribute to the exhilarating air-cooled experience.

The sale of this 911T will include a set of keys, service records, invoices from the restoration work as well as a clear New Jersey title. If you have been waiting for a driver’s grade classic 911 this 1971 Targa is the car you have been waiting for.

    BaT Description:

This 1973 Porsche 911T Targa was reportedly delivered new to Porsche of South Shore on Long Island and was acquired by the current owner in a 2019 BaT auction. The car is finished in Jade Green Metallic, and a soft rear window was fitted under prior ownership. Additional work by the previous owner included rebuilding the engine to 2.7 liters, rebuilding the five-speed 915 transaxle, and reupholstering the interior in tan leather with houndstooth inserts. The car is equipped with yellow-tinted H4 headlamps and hood-mounted Cibie fog lights, and work under current ownership consisted of an oil change and re-torquing of the head studs. Now in Virginia, this 911T is offered on behalf of the current owner by his son with records, factory literature, and a clean District of Columbia title.

The bodywork was repainted in Jade Green Metallic approximately five years ago, and the car has been modified with a steel 911S front valence, early-style chrome rear bumper guards, and a soft rear window conversion from Autobahn Interiors. The targa top was reportedly rebuilt under prior ownership, and the removed rear window glass is included in the sale. A set of H4 headlamps with yellow lenses are installed, and factory clear lenses are included. Cibie fog lights are mounted to the hood, and the rear lenses have been replaced.

The staggered-width 15″ Fuchs wheels have been refinished and measure 6″ wide at the front and 7″ wide out back. The installed Falken Ziez tires measure 195/65 and 215/60 respectively and show 2015 date codes. The brake calipers were rebuilt under prior ownership, and cross-drilled discs were installed.

The fixed-back bucket seats are upholstered in tan leather with houndstooth inserts, and the cabin features brown carpets and black trim. The car retains a factory heater control assembly, and the car is not equipped with a radio. Photos of the floors with the carpets removed are provided.

The dash fascia is trimmed in tan leather, and the pedal assembly was reportedly rebuilt under prior ownership. The four-spoke steering wheel features a leather rim, and the horn button is not functional. 72k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer, fewer than 200 of which were added under current ownership.

The flat-six was rebuilt under prior ownership using 9.0:1 JE pistons and new cylinders, reportedly bringing displacement to 2.7 liters. Other modifications include 911E camshafts, MSD ignition, Carrera tensioners, a 911 Turbo oil pump, and 911 Turbo lower cam covers. Per included invoices, the car also received a rebuild of the CIS injection system. Engine number 6133927 falls in the correct range for the model.

The five-speed Type 915/02 manual transaxle was rebuilt with new first and second gear teeth and all new synchromesh. Koni Classic dampers are installed, and underside photos show the brakes, trailing arms, spring plates, floors, and more.

I have to say that I have never seen a 1971 Vin stamp like that before it has the spacing of a 72 stamp, but without the asterisks that replaced the 1971 stars
This is what I have always believed a 1971 vin stamp should look like - no spaces and stars at either end and the fonts don't look correct either
Also the shape of the raised piece of metal is not compatible with a LHD car - RHD (and French) ones were wider but normal LHD ones were not as per the photos I posted
Maybe that has something to do with the price achieved?
