    Dealer Description:

    - Desirable 1972 Model with 2.4-Liter Engine & External Oil Filler
    - Complete Matching-Numbers per Porsche Certificate of Authenticity
    - Benefitting from Sympathetic Preservation & Restoration
    - Finished in Its Outstanding Original Color of Light Yellow
    - Fitted with Factory Air-Conditioning Plus Other Sporting Options
    - From Over 40 Years of Previous Ownership, with Ownership Records 1978 – 2018
    - Includes History/Maintenance File, Original Tools, Jack & Spare

9112101709 was delivered new in the striking color of Light Yellow (62) over Black leatherette (11), and optionally equipped from the factory with US Equipment, 6Jx15 Fuchs Wheels and 185/70VR15 Tires, Koni Shocks – instead of Boge, Stabilizers F/R, Comport Equipment, Air-Conditioning and Tinted Glass All-Around. A near lifelong Portland, Oregon car, ownership records on file begin February 27, 1978 with its purchase by the Porsche's longtime caretaker William Shreve, through Motor Sports International of Portland at 68,699 miles. With thoughtful care and limited use, the 911 now displays just 80,250 documented original miles. The Porsche was driven occasionally into the late 1990's, when it was stored until 2005 and recommissioned for use by Heckmann & Thiemann Motors of Portland who serviced the car for several years prior, along with Motor Sports International. Further restorative work picked up in 2014 and 2018/19.

Today, 9112101709 presents exceptionally well and performs just as well as it looks. Within recent years, great care has been taken to sympathetically preserve and/or restore all aspects of the car. This included an exterior repaint in correct color, along with all new rubbers and seals. The original etched side and rear glass remains fitted (with original California emission decal), while the trim was refinished as new and much of the brightwork and lenses appear original. Factory applied paint and decals are displayed in both the engine bay and front luggage compartments. The 911's cabin also displays original surfaces and materials, including the carpet and surrounding leatherette surfaces. The front seats were completely restored down to the finishes and hardware. A later Sanyo headunit remains fitted. All interior/exterior lights, instruments, safety equipment, and ice cold air conditioning are in excellent working order. The front compartment contains an original date coded spare with new Pirelli CN36 tire, matching the other mounted wheels. An original jack and tool kit resides up front as well. All five Fuchs wheels have been nicely refinished and display 2/1972 (x4) and 3/1972 (x1) date stampings and mounted with brand new Pirelli CN36 tires.

Reflecting the topside, the 1972's undercarriage is immaculately detailed with original undercoating and paintwork throughout. Select hardware were refinished, while many of the surfaces remain beautifully original. Importantly, the 911 retains its matching-numbers engine and transmission – verified by Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The engine recently received a top end rebuild and refinish of all surfaces to excellent concours standards by its most recent caretaker and marque enthusiast. Immaculate and correct in form, including associated components and finishes. A 2020 inspection and scheduled service was performed to insure further excellent drivability.

With the rare combination of year, air-conditioning, color and condition, this example should be seriously considered by any 911 enthusiast. Ready to drive or display, 9112101709 is available for worldwide purchase and delivery from our Houston, Texas showroom.

    PCAR Market Description:

We are pleased to present this 1971 Porsche 911T Targa finished in Gemini Blue Metallic over a black interior. A California car, this 1971 example remains in outstanding overall condition with a comprehensive collection of records. Having undergone over $30k worth of mechanical restoration over the past 5 years, this 911 highlights a fully rebuilt 2.2L engine and is now being offered for auction showing approximately 88k miles on the odometer.

This Targa has been refinished in its factory specified color of Gemini Blue Metallic. The exterior is shown to be in excellent condition with all trim, molding and seals said to remain in great shape. Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery. Features include a distinct silver Targa bar with curved rear glass and factory alloy Fuchs wheels which come dressed in period-correct Michelin all season tires.

This 911’s black interior is stated to be phenomenal shape with the only one minor crack in the dashboard. All gauges, electrical components and accessories are stated to be fully functional. The cabin has been refreshed with new front seats and carpeting, while the original dashboard and rear seats have been retained. Some noteworthy details include an aftermarket Momo steering wheel, Porsche crested shift knob and an upgraded Alpine stereo unit.

A recently rebuilt 2.2L carbureted flat-six engine sends approximately 125 HP to the rear wheels by way of a smooth 5-speed manual 901 transmission. A logbook kept between the years 1988 and 2008 shows routine oil changes, regularly scheduled service and even gas fill-ups and their respective costs. The seller indicates that the transmission and other mechanical components have also been checked over and refreshed in preparation for sale. This 911 is being offered in excellent, ready-to-drive condition.

The sale of this 911T will include a set of two keys, original books and accessories, service records, tools, a spare tire, car cover and clear title. A timelessly beautiful 911 offered with extensive documentation and a clean bill of health, this Targa makes the perfect choice for a passionate air-cooled Porsche enthusiast.

    eBay Description:

1972 Porsche 911T Targa. One owner car until the original owner Fritz Aickleys passing in 2006. The car sat until until it was passed on to his son in Laws father Keith, a fire Chief here in Tucson who had it moved down from Fort Wayne Indiana in 2013. There are service records that date back until 1993 with the original owner. In 2001 the engine was completely rebuilt at 55,236 miles and the transmission was gone through a few years later. The car remained largely original and was in need of a cosmetic restoration when the current owner found the car in 2014. Over the next 3 years he undertook a complete cosmetic restoration and corrected any needed mechanical issues during the process. The car was stripped to bare metal and sprayed in its original color of Signal Yellow using PPG enamel single stage, same as the factory application. All Seals were refreshed and all brightwork was correctly restored, polished, and anodized as original. The interior refurbishment was done by Marque expert “Stuttgart Upholstery” using tan European leather instead of the original black. The Carpets were tastefully backdated to wool German square weave material. Dan Petchel Cars in southern New Jersey restored the targa top. Tucson Mountain Motors did most of the mechanical work including new bushings, brakes, and all correct plated hardware . This car retains all of its original panels including the floors and trunk. It has had no accidents and was a very straight car before its restoration. It has only 56,782 original miles. At its first outing it received a 237.9 out of 240 possible points at 2018 Concours event at St Phillips Plaza here in Tucson. At the 2018 So AZ region Porsche Club of America event it received a first in class award. Documents include the Porsche PPS that shows all options as ordered new. The air Conditioning was dealer installed and is all there but the current owner decided not to re-install the compressor. Drivetrain is original according to Porsche Specification manuals. Runs and drives beautifully and is ready to show and go! Only carefully driven to and from car shows since its restoration was completed.

eBay sellers can be an 'interesting' lot, a non-operational 911 for $68k? CoA states 15" Fuchs but pictures show 14" Fuchs. 'Comfort Group' of this era typically included 14" x 5.5" Fuchs. A bunch of images never published properly.

    BaT Description:

This 1972 Porsche 911T Targa is powered by a 2.7-liter flat-six paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. The exterior is finished in Tangerine with a black targa top, and the interior is trimmed in black leatherette. The car was sold new at Century Porsche-Audi in Dayton, Ohio, and the first owner reportedly commissioned a Euro-spec engine rebuild in 1995. The car was purchased by a subsequent owner in 2016, and the selling dealer acquired it in 2019. Recent maintenance included new hood struts, new tires, rebuilding and tuning the carburetors, and replacing several oil seals and gaskets. This 911T Targa is now offered with service records, a 1972 sales brochure, the original bill of sale, a Porsche Certification of Authenticity, and a clean Ohio title.

The exterior is finished in Tangerine with a black targa top. Hood struts were replaced in 2019, and the rear bumper center section was reportedly repainted in 2017 to correct discoloration. The selling dealer believes the entire exterior was repainted at some time in the past, and photos of paint thickness readings are provided. 15″ Fuchs wheels wear 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were installed in April 2019. Four-wheel disc brakes were standard equipment, and front and rear stabilizer bars were optioned from the factory.

The interior is trimmed in black leatherette with black carpets and door panels. The selling dealer notes cracks in the dash pad, including one between the speaker grille and the passenger-side defrost vent. The rear package shelf trim is also coming up by the rear glass, and fraying can be seen on the outer edge of the carpets. VDO instrumentation consists of an 8k-rpm tachometer, a 150-mph speedometer, and gauges for oil temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and oil level. A Blaupunkt Frankfurt AM/FM radio remains in the factory location, and the five-digit odometer shows 97k miles.

The flat-six was reportedly rebuilt in 1995 with an increase in displacement 2.7 liters and a swap from mechanical fuel injection to Italian Weber 40 Carburetors. Details included Euro-specification Mahle pistons and cylinders, along with 911 “S” camshafts, pressure-fed chain tensioners, and replacement chains, rod bearings, and main bearings. The fitted Weber carburetors were rebuilt and tuned in April 2019, and other service at that time is said to have included a compression and leakdown test, a valve adjustment, replacement of the crankshaft seal and intermediate cover seal, and resealing the vent cover gasket, thermostat seal, oil sender, stand off pipe, and oil cooler. The engine case stamping reads *6120861* and matches the serial listed on the provided Certificate of Authenticity. A five-speed manual transaxle sends power to the rear wheels. Additional underside photos are provided.

The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity shows the factory options and the powertrain serials.

So it's been tarted up a bit. The rear wiper, fog lights and passenger side mirror aren't listed on the window sticker.

Too bad it hasn't had a bit more attention to detail. The right side mirror is in the wrong spot, the Weltmeister decal in the window lists 69, 70 and 71 in a 1969 car. (time travel, or just extreme confidence?) Last is the euro turn signal lenses on unmodified US housings, which is a pet peeve of mine.

    Another added tart:
No Fuchs listed on the window sticker and they're flat Fuchs, not period correct deep sixes.
