BaT Description:
This 1970 Porsche 911T was modified by its previous owner with a 2.7-liter flat-six and 5-speed manual transaxle from a 1976 911. Additional alterations include Weber carburetors, Pertronix electronic ignition, 16″ Fuchs wheels, Recaro seats, and several suspension and brake upgrades detailed below. Cosmetic refurbishment carried out by the previous owner included rust repair and the installation of fiberglass bumpers, followed by a repaint in the current shade of silver. Since acquiring the car on BaT auction in May 2018, the seller has driven it just over 1,000 miles and added a Dansk muffler, K&N intake, and new upholstery. This 911 is now offered with some removed parts, refurbishment receipts, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
The body received a bare-metal repaint in silver following the installation of fiberglass front and rear bumpers. Rust remediation and bodywork were also reportedly performed, and Porsche side graphics were added. Rear emblems were attached to the deck lid using adhesive tape according to the seller. Noted imperfections include fitment issues of the rear bumper, as well as a few nicks and dents in the body. The 16” Fuchs measure 6” in width up front and 7” out back. Pirelli P6 tires show date codes from 2012. The brake system was refreshed by the previous owner with stainless pistons, braided hoses, replacement brake lines, new e-brake components, and re-plated calipers from a 1976 911.
Recaro seats were reupholstered during the seller’s ownership in black with houndstooth inserts. RS-style door panels are installed in addition a period Racemark steering wheel with a Luisi hub. The radio, air conditioning, and clock have been removed, and the 6-digit odometer from the donor vehicle was fitted at the time of the engine swap. 137k miles are currently shown, over 1,000 of which were added by the seller.
The 2.7-liter flat-six was refreshed in 1997 with Euro-spec pistons and cylinders, oil-fed tensioners, SSI heat exchangers, and new head studs. The Weber carburetors are said to have been rebuilt by specialist Paul Abbott, and additional upgrades include 911S cam timing, O-rings, return tubes, a digital CDI box, and Pertronix electronic ignition. The 915 transaxle was also rebuilt approximately 20 years ago with new synchros and gaskets. A Dansk RS-style sport muffler and K&N intake were installed by the seller, and the factory exhaust and air box are included in the sale. Suspension upgrades include larger torsion bars, Elephant Racing bushings, and Weltmeister anti-sway bars.
