    Wink Video restoration of a 911T Targa (in German)

    A month ago or so, Karim gave me the link to a German television documentary (10 episodes no less!) on the restoration of a 911T Targa.

    Although I do not speak a word of German, I was immediately hooked, and still continue to watch some episodes regularly.

    Nice movies!

    Milou, thanks for sharing the links with us.

    The films are very educational, especially for those, like me, who are not too good at putting their hands on these cars. So far the best movies on early 911s that I have found on the net.

    Pity that they used the wrong bumper, the wrong seat covers, the wrong radio, the wrong color for the engine bay.

    Wink Well spotted....

    Yes I think the restoration was very well done overall, but some choices were indeed wrong. I also spotted:

    - Wrong Km/h dial (not VDO) replacement

    - Shiny Fuchs finish instead of mat

    - Radiator in the right front wing and ventilated disk brakes (only for S)

    - Leather trim on dash top

    - Healights lens from a 2.4 (top of lens should not be frosted on 2.2 but clear)

    - 2.2 and Weltmeister stickers missing

    - New Porsche crest on hood (no orange bars)

    They say it apraised at 60000 Euro's Thats $82200 Wow !

    What was the total investment ?

    Were they afraid to say they put in close to $100000 US ? That would be my guess concidering it had a blue printed RUF motor !

    Wish there was a place her in So Cal that did glod cad plating like that !

    One lucky viewer of the show got to drive this beautiful targa if he/she won the competition...
    It seems that a Mr. Wolf from Dinslaken actually won the whole car...

    Excellent videos. Did I miss something or did he say in the first one McQueen drove a 912 at the start of Le Mans?

    Remember everything seems scary expensive when you convert € to $ now as the $ is so weak in comparison (sorry). Even so €60k for a 1970 T seems a big number.

    I managed to grab all these and convert them to .avi and make them into one long file. If there's interest I can make a torrent so we can share it?
