    Would this work?

I was wondering if a guy (me) could/should take the original skin off of the old sound pad, assuming it's in good condition, and then back it with one or more layers of Dynomat. I was thinking I might even add a rib or two of thin sheet metal by sandwiching the ribs between layers of the Dynomat. The ribs would add stiffness and keep it from sagging the way the stock pad does over time.

What do you think foks? Is it worth a shot? It would give the look of the old mat without the jute pad fuzz and sagging.

Call Zim's and get the Armor -flex engine pad. You will have to cut it out yourself, but they do trace the pattern on it for you. It is a close density foam that looks very much like the original (color is slightly darker) the biggest difference is that 20 years from now it will still be intact. At least that is currently how long one has been in one of my cars.

This thread is ancient but still an issue. What is the latest and greatest answer for sound pad for my 73S? Yes it needs to look stock. Thanks.
