From the www.elferhelfer.com site, it looks like the chassis/VIN is a 1972 911T coupe US model and the engine is from a 1973 911E.

I have put the Stoddard charts up on my website for reference, which can tell you the chassis and Type#/Serial# ranges for each model/year production, but the only way to know if they match for sure on a particular car is a Cardex.

Thanks for posting the reference information

    I have a question.

If you look at page one under 1967 911S and scan to the right, you find "3C.-3C 1." What is this?

Also, if my engine numbers fall within the last 100, does that indicate that my car may have been on of the last 100 put together that year?

Those are the left and right hand carb designations, which are appended to the (W)40IDS on the line above.

That's a definite "maybe". In looking at the registry database, you can see that there is no definite 1 to 1 correspondence of engine serial/chassis numbers. Production was not so closely controlled back then, and there are all sorts of anomalies in sequencing apparent, sometimes by 50-100 numbers in engines assigned to chassis numbers that are very close together. I think it certainly might have been possible, but then your car may have been produced earlier and received a later replacement engine after initial testing--who knows?
