    Lights on Heater Controls

Since we always need at least one silly project.

While rooting around under my dash, I noticed there appears to be a place for a lamp on the left side of the heater controls. There is a blue lens on the panel. It looks identical to my right side lens whcih does have a lamp that illuminates when I move the slider to the middle or beyond.

Should I have a lamp on the left side as well?

    Can anyone verify?

Any one have a spare lamp socket with a decent pigtail?

    Thanks!

    Harry,
If you are referring to the top slider, then the blue light on the RHS is to indicate that the blower fan is on and the light that comes on on the LHS is for the gas heater when fitted.
As I don't have a LHD 911 and never seen a gas heater in my Porsche career,I may be corrected on this !

    Cheers,
    Dennis.

    Dennis,

Thanks. You have the correct locations, Your explaination makes sense as my PET shows only one bulb for the panel. But then again, if you see a hole, you want to fill it.

If we are wrong, maybe someone else can "illuminate" us.

the pin light bulb that fits on the right side as you look at the heater control panel on a lhd car is behind the blue plastic square illuminates when the heater fan is activated.

the pin light bulb that would fit on the left side would be fitted only if the car is equipped with an optional gas heater found in the smugglers box on lhd cars. if no optional heater then the light socket would not have contained a light bulb and would not illuminate even if you were to fit a bulb in the socket.

these small pin light bulbs are still readily available at pelican or stoddards. can not recall the model # off top of my head but its on their websites.

    hope this helps

Thanks for the confirmation. I will leave it un-illuminated.
