    Keeping The Headlight In...

    I'm having a problem with my passengers side H1 locking on the top tab.

    Anybody else have this problem? I'm looking for rear world solutions before I begin welding a new tab in there. This one seems too short to do the job. It may be an aftermarket bucket...???

    Anyone BTDT?

    I had the same problem. I bent the chrome ring edge down and still after leaning on the light it could pop off. It wouldn't come off during hard driving, just pushing on it. The car did have a couple of coats of paint and that is what I chalked it up to.

    Not an uncommon problem.

    I have to keep an eye on my my drivers side H-1 and snap it back in from time to time...

    Thanks Stefan... I kinda thought others would have this problem. Mine won't stay in "at all" now. It seemed to be in when I picked it up from the shop...

    I'm puzzled.

    Ohhhhhhhhhh... we have the same bike! (almost). I have a 72 Toaster!

    You may be able to solve this problem as follows: First, is the rubber tubing around the screw that holds the chrome ring to the bucket in place? If not, get some tubing and cut a piece about 1/8" long and try it. If you already have the rubber tubing around the screw you may need to put a slightly longer piece of tubing on the screw. The purpose of the tubing is to keep the bottem of the chrome ring from going to far toward the tab at the bottem of the bucket. By keeping the bottem of the chrome ring a little farther from the bottem tab the top lip of the chrome ring is pulled down farther over the top lip of the bucket. I've had this problem a couple of times on different cars over the years and by playing with the length of the rubber tubing that goes around the screw at the bottem I've always been able to solve it. Most hardware stores carry plastic tubing which you can cut to whatever lenth works. Good luck.

    I have no rubber tubing. I was wondering about the bottom. It seemed that screw would have a lot to do with the position of the entire assembly.

    Rubber tubing it is. I'll report back.

    What is that screw? M5 or 6? (me thinks 5x1 or 5x.8)

    I want to stop on my way home and I obviously don't have that screw in my pocket... anyone have a PET handy?
