Thread: Running Inner Tubes with Fuchs Rims

Question Running Inner Tubes with Fuchs Rims

I recently saw a magazine documeting the restoration of an early 911 Targa.
When mounting the tyres they said they had to be using Inner tubes - since early Fuchs wheels wouldn't hold the air pressure (weren't gas proof)...?!?
    Is that possible...?
If so, where is the time line where they were holding it...!
    Just wondering...

Early Fuchs wheels had no safety bead, thus why some folks think they need tubes. I have yet to run into anyone that has had a problem running tubeless tires, though.

    tubeless

Even sometimes the flat Fuchses need to be run with a tube because without tube they don't hold pressure. This can happen when the Fuchses have been grinded to much down for restoration. The can get really thin at the safety bead at the top.
