Can't wait to see the first pics of this baby out in the sunlight and hunkered down at the back under acceleration.

Gib, I hooked up with my Dutch brothers at the Classic and got to hear the motor out of the Martini rep. Sounds fantastic with the Flowmaster set up, very impressed

You may be right...those tiny Porsche clips holding the headliner may not be enough...The engine is a short stroke with 10.5 CR, mag case with shuffle pins, 4 bearing cam housing, 2.4 MFI pump with modified space cam for higher fuel delivery, amber cover, twin plug distributor. More on the engine specs later.

    John:

I too really liked the sound of that 3.0 MFI engine with the Flowmaster crossflow muffler. I may do something a little different with this engine, however, as I want to use separate Flowmaster cans with a crossover tube upstream which also serves to support the system from the engine muffler mounting location. Not sure yet about it though, and will have to measure things out when the engine is in the car.

Bet you had a great time at CLM...the pix from the event were great.

What is the advantage of the long stroke 2.5 over the short stroke? They just did the long because the Nicasil cylinders wenen't ready until developed for the 917. The short stroke 66mm crank revs higher. The 70.4 crank would have a little more low down torque, I imagine, but how much time do these cars spend time at low revs?

While I am waiting to pick up the engine because of a few details yet to finish, here are a few pics of the Spark model of the Kremer ST. We used it during the graphics painting to help with proportions and placement as it is very detailed. Even has small Porsche-Kremer script on both bumpers...hard to even see, let alone place....amazing. Also, a neat Talbot mirror.

Still waiting for the engine, but here are a few shots outside. Still has a little Arizona dust on it, but it was good to get it out in the light (104 deg sun).

While waiting on the engine, I have been rethinking the rear wheels. I can go with 8+9 Fuchs, or since Kremer actually banded some Fuchs to make 11x15s prior to Porsche having Fuchs make them, I may use 9+11s. While the BBS are historically correct, I think the Fuchs will look better....with Harvey Weidman's finish of course.

    Opinions?

    Hi Gib,

Great to have choices. My point of view is that you have 3 that are correct the BBS, 9x15 Fuchs, and minilites 10x15. I think all would look great on this car.

    Forgot to list my preferences.
    1. minilite
    2. Fuchs
    3. BBS

I think the 11x15 Fuchs would give it a later period look. JMO

You always have the option of having all 3 set around and you can change to fit your mood that day.

BTW will you be at GAF this year?

    Bob:

Thanks for the comments. I have not seen one picture of this car (Green Kremer) with rear Minis (although they used them on the yellow sister car), only BBS or 9" or wider Fuchs. In many pics of the day, it is clear they were using Fuchs 9s on the front, and the rears look to be wider Fuchs, so I am thinking they are the banded 11s. Edmond Harris is the source of info on the 11x15 banded Fuchs.

Since I have chosen to use the wider rear flares which are more like what Kremer used as the 72 season progressed (not the Porsche ST rears), I think the wider wheels would seem to be appropriate. Kremer was experimenting with wider rear flares, which eventually became the 73 RSR factory flares I believe. I think the flares on the real car are the same as RSRs.

Yes, I will be at GAF...and look forward to seeing you there if you are coming. I will be at the Marriott on Friday/Sat.

    Gib,

I will be there, also at the Marriott.

I could not find a period photo of the green 61 with minis but did find the yellow car with them. All the photos I have of the car with minis are current and it is running 10x15s, you should have those photos from Dave's.

I still like the minis, and if Kremer ran them on one car there is a good chance they were also used on the other. Kremer was running some wide wheels before everyone else so it leaves you the options.

Comes down to what you like.
