The Reunions at Rennsport - Driver/Car Pics

Of course there were incredible cars everywhere! The real magic is when you see the a legendary driver reunited with his machine there in front of you. Where else can you walk up to get a look at the East African Safari Rally 911, and see Bjorn Waldegaard being fitted to the Safety harness!
Post more driver-with-car reunion pics please!

Here are some moments captured with my phone camera. Bjorn Waldegaard, David Piper, Richard Atwood, Brian Redman and Gerard Larrousse with Vic Elford.

    East African Safari Rally 911...

Got an extra "hood-door" and a nice green paint-job since Christies/Monte Rey Airport, last year...Gary Kempton (sp?) and his guys started the complete renovation/restoration September 15, 2007...Nice job and it's not "Earl Scheib"-class either!.../ Lars...

    Whoa. Sheesh.

-nice job capturing History fellas. (All who took photos)

-you know, some of our grandkids are going to look at some of the photos from last weekend and silently think, "man, I was born 20 years too late."

(much as I do today, sometimes)

Lars - are you sure that's the same car? That's WAY more than a paint job. Narrow front fenders + all the little safari details (wheels, mud flaps, timers, spare tire, CB radio, mirrors, lights, skid plates, etc.) All since September 15?

    The Safari Car...

Curt...I reacted the same way!....both Bjorn Waldegard and Gary Kempton confirmed that it is the same car as the "Mexico Blue" at Christies last year....
and that they started September 15th this year!....that makes it less than 7 weeks...However, Gary said they were a lot of people working on it...It sure is nice...B.W said it is amazing in all it's "minute" detail...also,they had a hard time finding the original type "Sears" white walls...had to settle for these street tires...B.W said they are better anyway...because they "slide" much better through the corners...Very Cool.../ Lars...

I had the "pleasure" of busting ear drums in that car while it sat in the showroom at G&W. Wicked sounding engine. The enrichment circuit is between the seats in the shifter coupling grill. Push it 2-3 times and hit the starter and watch 'em run!
