    re-silvering early taillight/turnsignal lens(s)

I've searched, but i haven't found any info regarding the refinishing/resilvering of the early lenses that have silver trim. Mine are in great shape except for the silver trim. does anyone have any tips for doing this right.

    regards,

I have seen a silver product which is made of small flakes. Once laid/painted on a surface they mate and form a uniform finish. Availability might be through craft stores, but a really good automotive detail shop may know a superior method. I have only seen this used on indoor furniture and have no idea of durability for automotive uses, but perhaps this might spark someone else's thoughts.

If it was me I would look in the Astronomy (it has been a long time for me but hopefully Sky and Telescope is still in publication) magazines for who silvers telescopic mirrors. They should be able to help you out.

    Al,

When I was in School (a long time ago) my best buddy worked in a shop that plated plastic parts. I have long since lost touch with him but the he company was McDermid (http://www.finishing.com/Chemicals/macdermid.shtml) in Connecticut.

Maybe they can help you out.
