FS: 1973 RS/ST Carrera Conversion in Tour de France Livery (SoCal)

Many of my fellow R Gruppe members have seen this car at last year's SLO trefetthen. We listed it for sale the night before we left and it sold in 4 hours. Needless to say, we were shocked and sad. The current owner lives in Florida and loves the car, but also ownes dozens of other cars and really doesn't have the time to enjoy this car. He has only driven it about 100 miles since he got it. He asked me to help list it again for him.

    Here are the details:

    1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS/ST Conversion

    VIN # 9113100502
    81,500 Original Miles
Less than 10,000 miles since complete restoration
Light Yellow (117) with Tour de France Graphics/Black Interior
    5-speed Manual (915 gearbox)
    Clean and Clear Title
    2-owner west coast car

    Offered at $49,990

If you have been looking for a clean RS/ST conversion that is truly “done” right, than this is the car for you. So many RS conversions out there are high mileage cars with rust or in need of mechanical attention, it is just plain hard to find a nice driver to enjoy without having to stick a ton of money into. This is the perfect and unique R Gruppe car . It is ready to cruise, bomb the canyons, or take to a track event.

This car was originally a 1973 911T with only 70,000 miles when the previous owner decided to begin an RS conversion. The car was originally located in the Seattle area. The owner began to completely strip the car down to its bare metal and replace everything. The body shop bill was almost $13,000 alone! A factory set of original RS fender flares was correctly butt-welded to the rear and then entire car was repainted its original RS yellow. When it was reassembled, all new trim, lenses, rubber, interior pieces, glass, headliner and sun visors were used.

The motor was rebuilt to a very strong 2.4 S spec motor with beautifully rebuilt Weber carburetors. A 7R case was used as well as 2.2 S pistons. The cylinder heads were custom ported as well. The 915 transmission was also rebuilt. The engine dyno tested at 200hp to the flywheel.

Shortly after completion, the next owner (local SoCal R Gruppe member) decided to purchase the car and spend the next 3 years investing another $15,000 perfecting the car. This owner was truly fanatical and wanted the car near perfect. He had Andial, Aase Motors, and TRE Motorsports do the rest of the work. He only wanted the best to work on the car. This is what he did to the car:

Replaced entire muffler/exhaust/heat exchanger system with SSI stainless
    Installed hydraulic tensioners
    Aase Motors rebuilt the Webers
    Pointless/MSD ignition system by Andial
    RS front and rear bumpers
    Powder coated Carb covers
    K&N Air filters
    New Clock
Replace all oil lines and return tubes
Installed external oil cooler system (from ’89 Carrera) in front right fender with oil lines
Complete RS lightweight interior including Rallye ST seats and 5-point belts, lightweight door panels, lightweight carpet, Momo Prototipo steering wheel, and radio delete plate
    911R/ST powder coated roll bar
Repair all oil leaks (removal of motor and resealing)
New 19mm front sway bar and 22mm rear sway bar
New Koni Sport shocks with 22mm and 28mm torsion bars.
New Carrera front and rear brakes
Replace all bushings front and rear with Elephant bushings
    Welmeister front brace
    Rear Monoball kit
    911 SC adjustable spring plates
    High torque starter
    New Aluminum Valve covers
7x15 front Fuchs in RSR finish done by Harvey Weidman
    8x15 Superlite/Minilight rear rallye wheels
    New Tires
Cibie Rallye lights with custom mounts
Custom Tour de France vinyl graphic scheme
    Extra fiberglass ducktail engine cover
New H4 headlights with European yellow glass covers
    Optima Gel Battery
    Aligned and corner balanced

This car is truly ready to be driven and enjoyed. Weighing only 2,200 lbs with 180-200hp, it is a quick and nimble car. It is harder and harder to fine clean and well-sorted early RS style cars that you don’t have to sink a ton of money into. This one is ready to be enjoyed.

All keys, books, and records are included.

One of the DDKers in England, who is not a member here, wonders if anyone who knows the car could let him have a second opinion off the forum? He has already spoken to Paul directly but would really appreciate someone else's view: jason@mortgage1.fsnet.co.uk

For anyone living in the UK this car has to be a no brainer,
Autofarm, check out their site, are selling similar cars for this amount but in Pounds not dollars,
as for Paul, I find him to be very honnest, he recently sold my ex 1973 911E Gemini blue car with sportseats, and was very up front about it all, he gets my vote, if that means anything to anybody,
