    Speeding in Malibu

Well, I got an early XMAS present Sunday morn!

I took the RS out on PCH heading towards Malibu. Gorgeous day, no traffic....so I hit it. Flying by the beautiful ocean on my left when I glance into my rear view mirror....and what APPEARS to be a Motorcycle Cop REALLY close in, basically tailgating me...but I can't be SURE. (Alas, the fuse to my Cigar lighter had blown, so my Radar was not working....) I SLOOOOOO down, creep over to the right, glance into the mirror...and he's still behind me. No lights yet, but I'm thinking, '****! I'm doomed! Exhibition speeding AT THE LEAST! Then, he pulls along side my drivers window, creeping forward, now parallel with me....

"Excuse me", I hear....and then a mumbled question. I glance over. 'S***!' I think to myself. 'It IS a cop!'

Having not heard the question, I sheepishly turn. "Sorry, what?"

    Then I hear..."is that a REAL RS?"
    Why, 'YES'!
"Beautiful, I used to have one....wish I still did...." and then he zooms off....

    Merry Xmas!

Wow, that is a real gift! I can imagine me saying, "Why, yes, it's a real RS with a real dirty seat right now."

    You are one lucky SOB...

I as out as well on my BMW K1200GT. The canyons were crawling with CHP and have been ever since the horrific accident between the Ferrari and Mustang which took out a couple bikers in the process...

    You Luck Bastard

Well, a cop who is a car head. That has Ca al over it. I am an East Coast guy who has spent about 2 months in Malibu and San diego consulting with clients since the wild fires. The whole car culture in Ca. is so much different than the area I call home. New England has some great back roads, but most are more akin to great GT cruising roads. I have been staying in Agora and driving the canyon roads to Malibu (in my rental car) and thinking the public roads are nothing more than go kart tracks! To se a porsche or ferrari working it, coming the opposite way is instant entertainment. Give me a R clone with rock hard torsion bars and airport gears and let me loose. As I have flown back and forth coast to coast I have also stared out the plane window as the plane lands at O'Hare for a flight change and have looked at the roads on the Great Plains. Straight for miles and miles. Porsche pergatory. I hope you guys appreciate what you have out there. Porsche heaven. tom
