    65 thru 71 Color Chart

Thinking of a new color guys and gals,

Here is a Dupont chart I've scanned. I've compared the colors with my factory paint books and they are very accurate. Allowing for monitor differences, this will give you a good idea of, at least, how the colors compare. You can right click and save this image for later use if you need.

    Sorry

    Raj,

I don't have it; I purchased the sheet I scanned since I was missing early 911 colors in my factory books. Sorry. Maybe another member can post it.

This is obviously a 356 and not a 911, but it's a good representation of Champagne Yellow. This was used on the 356 from 1962-1965. The subject is a 1965 C cabriolet.

The '64-'65 colors were all shared by the 356 and 911 as they were being built side-by-side.

(Cabrios, anyway. Late 356 coupes were mostly built by Karmann to make room at Reutter/Porsche for 911 production.)

    Standard Colors:
6401 - Slate Gray (available on the 911 thru 1969)
    6402 - Ruby Red (...thru 1965)
6403 - Sky Blue (...thru 1965, maybe just renamed as "6603 - Gulf Blue" for MY66??)
    6404 - Light Ivory (...thru 1973)
    6405 - Champagne Yellow (...thru 1969)
    6406 - Irish Green (...thru 1977)
    6407 - Signal Red (...thru 1965)

    Special Order:
    6410 - Dolphin Gray (...thru 1965)
    6411 - Togo Brown (...thru 1965)
    6412 - Bali Blue (...thru 1965)
    6413 - Black (...thru forever )

FWIW, Champagne Yellow was a special order color from 1966-1969. The 901(?) on the cover of the "Red Book" by Paternie looks to be Champagne: http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0760...00#reader-link

It's probably a repaint. You find me a picture of an excellent condition original paint Champagne Yellow 356 or 911 out on the 'Net...

That car looks like a single spray job on my monitor. The color seems pretty even, given that the light conditions aren't the best (sun's too bright, washes it out a bit).
