    Fan Housing Casting Numbers

I'm looking for some year and model appropriate application info. for a couple of fan housings. I've search here and Pelican with no success. Here are the casting numbers.

    901.106.101.03 and 901.106.101.5R

Which years and which models were each of these use for?

    Thanks!

Neil the first number I believe to be the first housing used on 64-68 aluminum case engines. The housings are different then the later ones. Hope that helps. Do you have some picture of the housings??

According to the PET 901.106.101.03 is the correct housing for 911 model year 1966 and earlier. Up until engine number 909 000.

901.106.101.5R is correct for 911 model year 1967 to 1977.

I have also seen a housing with number 901.106.101.00. This version appears to be identical to 901.106.101.5R. I donīt know why these two versions have different numbering.

Thanks for the reply Thomas. According to the factory Spare Parts catalogue "Groups 1- RS" (1966-68), as you mention, the factory gives "Fan Housing (Part No. 901.106.010.03) up to engine # 909000.

In the next paragraph it says "After stock fig. 1 (i.e. part # 901.106.101.03) is sold out, please use part No. 901.106.101.04 and part No. 901.101.106.03." The second number is not a typo, perhaps a deslexic foundary worker? A 901.106.101.0R fan housing is found both Ol' Ivory {960241} and the Rust Bucket {inaccessible} '67 911S engines.

I've also seen an ebay housing with 901.106.101.5R that came from a '69 911T.

Just to help augment the archives, Fan No. 901.106.010.02 gets used with Fan Housing 901.106.010.03 (up to engine No. 909000 and thereafter, Fan No. 901.106.010.03 gets used after engine No. 909001. I can't read any fan part numbers as the corrosion is too advanced.

I don't have a digital camera so I can't post a photo but the number and letter size of the .03 (seems to be aluminum) is smaller than the .0R (seems to be magnesium).

Where do you find the part number on the 11-blade fan itself? I canīt recall ever having seen a part number on the fan.

Is there any difference between the 11-blade fan used from 1965-75 and the one used for 1976-83? And the one for 1984-89 for that matter?

    Question 66 fan housing

On 304389 the fan housing part # has the second digit omitted on the cast in part nr.- 9 1 etc. Anybody else notice this?

    Thanks, Alan.

The one on the far left in your photos is what I've seen on the early cars. My '67 came this way. (small fat numbers)
