Color Search and paint Code

Hello All,

I recently purchased a 71 911 E targa. The car is mostly in primer but it is originally some color of green, possibly metallic. The tag on the door jamb reads 8031- H. Unless I 'm remembering it wrong. It might be 8310-H. I can look this evening. Does anyone know where I can look up the color? I've tried the usual suspects?

I have tried that site with no luck. The number is definitely not the 8383 it's a version of the original post and it ends in the - H.

Maybe I should post a pic of the tag on the door jamb?

8310 is Green Metallic and correct for a '71. If you want you can search the formula on this.

Porsche for the Manufacturer; Code 8310 in the code box. Then select start search.


I thought that the -H- stood for "Herberts" another paint supplier.

So I guess it's just green metallic no name? I tried that site earlier but never entered the year.

I wonder why I don't find it on any of the other color code charts?

Chuck your initial thought was correct. I spoke with John Patarek yesterday and he stated that #8310-H was a targa specific code. Coupes were the same color only #8383. He didn't know why the codes were different.
The Glasurit code is 221.

Perhaps in a production environment, when you were planning to paint a coupe vs a targa, you would use a different volume of paint and so it would be useful to have this codified?
