Here you go Bob. Still a work in progress, but much neater than when I received the car. I need to figure out a trick way to mount my lightweight 944 jack and a tool kit when I carry one. Anybody know a good source for those nice leather straps that I keep seeing on these cars?

Here is a shot from an original 71 ST, sent to me by Edmond Harris recently. It shows a double pull cable/battery cut off switch arrangement that was used by the factory and Kremer Racing. On the viper green Kremer 72 ST, one of the pull cables was mounted between the first and second instruments on the dash panel, and the other was mounted through the driver side horn grill. Both operated the Bosch switch to cut power to the battery.

All very nice gentlemen. Learning a lot about the details like tie downs. I had assumed the Schmidt was a one off but it looks like a 550 repro part - good to know items like this are available. I like the tie down method carried over from the 356.
Also, wish somebody was reproducing the 100l tank.
Thanks to all for contributing.

Dennis - in looking at your nicely restored compartment may I ask if the coating is OE? I like the various points of texture breaks.

Quick observation...who has not changed their brake fluid in the last few years...hint, is that coffee in the brake reservoir ? It's so nice to see the fresh clear to light amber color - (maybe all the others have that blue racing stuff - do you think?).
Real good looking trunks, guys.
Bob look at the tank that Ruf offers it's a modified stock tank but holds about 100 liters. It looks a lot like the one in John Glynns car.

What is the correct finish for 100 litre tank? Seems that most have black
gloss on top. What about the bottom? The same or black Würth stone guard?

Hi 37yr911, sorry I missed your post on the thread.Originally Posted by 37yrold911
The smuggler's lid was made by the previous owner (GeorgeK), it is just a flat piece of ally drilled out, filed off and then edged in door seal, very nice work. He did the same thing for the centre tunnel cover in the rear. It weighs not a lot.
Also in the trunk, the brake fluid reservoir strap, fusebox backplate, fuel sender cover, heater guard, wheel tie downs etc are all aluminium, as are the battery bracket, and the bonnet, which uses an RS prop. The fuel tank was also modified by the previous owner, has a huge capacity now which, as George rightly said, proves very handy on a long run.
All I have done in there so far is redo some wiring, move and downsize the batttery and fit the strut brace, which came from Sherwood. More changes coming to the ventilation system and electrical setup, maybe shifting the washer tank again and redoing the corner brace that George had to cut out for battery fitment. Monoball camber plates on the way also at some stage. Will post as the jobs are ticked off.
Thanks, John G
