What gas tank is correct for a 73S?

Here's a picture of a pair of original '69-'72 Italian spec Bosch lenses - haven't got any '73 black-rimmed ones at the moment but can sometimes get them...

Petrol tank varied by country spec equipment in model year 1973.


This is the original comment in the footnote in Porsche Cars GB the UK importer's MY 1973 two page price list for that year. The importer sets out in this second page (using anotated table) the additional options they chose to include as standard for c16/EG British market 73 models. Things over and above the factory standard equipment for those models. Not the self evident stuff like RHD for Britain but option/trim changes ( rear wipers etc etc) that they presumably thought was necessary for the car to be marketed successfully at the desired price point in this country.

Plastic tanks together with their space saver tyres shaped and packaged to fit the front storage location that were seen in other geographies were not legal here in UK in 1973 so were not part of C16/EG country equipment list specified by the importer. Presumably the table and the footnote is highlighting a variance from the generic brochure.

Answers posted above quite rightly relate to OP question about Italy. Example I'm posting here highlight we can't generalise for Europe on a range of things becase national importers and factory marketeers defined the country and equipment specs for country regulations, local conditions, national fashions, etc, etc.
