    FS: Flat Sixes (4); date codes 3/72 & 4/72

    SOLD

Reposting since I had the wrong date codes listed in the first ad. THESE WHEELS ARE FOR A '72.

When was the last time you saw a complete set of longhood date coded flat six Fuchs? Here's your chance to acquire a set for you early T/E/S without having to buy them one at a time. These are 100% correct for MY 1972 and visually correct for 1973.

These wheels are in quite nice shape. There is no rash on the lips, except some minor nicks. One wheel has some petal scrapes (detail photos below), so getting them to Harvey would be the best path to perfection.

I have an early 73S with a production date of 11/72. Would these be correct for this car as well? Seems like it would unless I'm missing something.

    Hold that thought.

Had to think about that. OK, here's the skinny.

These are very late wheels for Model Year '72. The factory shut down happened at the end of July, which was the Model Year switchover. I have heard of numerous cars that are very early in the MY, getting wheels and other parts from before the July cut off date as Porsche cleared its inventories of old parts on the earliest cars. Are these correct for your car? They are longhood flat sixes that use 3 prong caps, so in that regard, yes. Do they correspond exactly to your Model Year? That is up for debate, but considering your car was built in November, I'd say 'no' based on pure date codes.

That said, I know lots of people using 1970 PY deep sixes w/ hearts on their '69 PY cars, etc. The most important thing is that they aren't short hood, ring style cap wheels, IMO.

YES they are correct for your car...

I think that Kenik has "overthought" your question.

The ONLY difference between these wheels and ones made 5 months or a year later is the date stamp..... that's the ONLY difference!

Unless you think you are going to take your wheels off and show someone your datestamped wheels, then these are absolutely correct for you.

    Eric and Kenik,
I appreciate the detailed info. I am trying to learn what exactly belongs on my car to be able to put it back to original some day
