    greyish smoke from the cooling fan area.

    My 66 has not run in a year and a half. It used to burn some blue smoke from the remaining oil that was caked on the block from the years or wear.. after cleaning the block , it now runs and hold idle no problem and does not blow blue smoke any more...when i turn the car off, smoke comes from the fan area. the engine does not overheat. the heat exchangers do have many holes in them as well.. Do I have a big problem here? any help?

    smoke

    my guess would be that the cake of oil and dirt that you removed prevented the "burning" of oil on a hot case, rather it smoldered and created the darker smoke. Now that it has been removed, the oil drips fall right onto the hot metal and burns off more cleanly. Only see it when the car is off because the fan is not redistributing it under the car.
