The Ultimate Driving Machine rear brake solution, circa 1926: cast iron V-groove annular ring fastened to a few spokes, and one block of wood.

    Rick,

I think that's a full ring 20mm spacer that GT Werks makes and not a wheel?

Cool picture John! Just like the brakes on the cable cars in San Francisco!

    Hey, Rolly . . .

I almost thought the same . . . except that all the open-center GT wheels I've ever seen all had a 'detent' in the center to clear the valve stem . . .

Plus --- it makes a LOT of sense to use a one-piece wheel on a race car. I wouldn't want my Big-Buck$ Abarth riding/racing around on a bunch of copper rivets.

Short hood lollipops in a Long hood style

We finally got our 'new' lollipops last week.
We wanted them to have the look and feel of the 60/70 recaro buckets to go in our '72 hotrod.
We now only have to finish the ride

Rick, I think that is a old misquote; We have repaired and resored many sets of the alu/steel wheels both Porsche and Mercedes and have never seen copper rivets, they were all steel. Every failure that I have seen was the steel center cracking..never a aluminum outer or rivet failure. We inspect and repair them currently for 550-906s for vintage racing use without hesitation.
