Thanks, Harry......they're still selling them and I bought a set, but they'll have to wait for installation because I've got new ideas for the front end.

In the meantime however, I finally finished & installed the "tool & spare parts bin" I made for my car and which I wrote about in the Esses article about making these bins. No, it's not open at the bottom, I had some left-over Hargaard carpeting left which matches the rest of the carpeting in my car and lined the bottom of each compartment with it.

Also made some new luggage straps to go with the bin while I was at it......forgive the white specks, it's just lint from papervtowels.

John, nice work on the bins and the luggage tie downs! Are you going to add some elastic straps to the bins?

I found a specialty Company in the UK, Holden Vintage & Classic who show these "Net compartments" in their catalog. I took the liberty of copying a pic of this item, because the two I ordered are still I en route. I also bought the flexible neck map-light from them which is next on the list to do.

They are the perfect size to fit inside each of the compartments vertically against the "back wall" of the bin. I have purchased two, one for each outside compartment, and will show photos when they're installed.

I think a pair of elastic slots like that'll be more useful for carrying maps, atlases, magazines, & and various small items you don't want rattling around the inside of your car than the elastic ribbons as in the original. Also, they're all black, they'll match the rest of the interior, and I'll be using small, polished stainless fasteners to screw them in place to match the rest of the screws that hold the bin itself in place.

love the bin John! I have one of those in my future as well, but have to hold off for now. speaking of luggage belts, i have had my set from classic and speed parts for about 6 years now i think.. here is some luggage with it (luggage is actually for sale too on the for sale forum.. found a better color set that went with burgundy instead)

although i dont know how well that will fit if i have this installed along with the tool partition..

in the mean time i have a few other items i am working on.. mainly on the dash..

    here is a small teaser...

and a few other items i ordered from the UK last week as well..

Will have to post pics of the Notch's tartan storage bin. Looking fun, Harry... here's an idea for the Heuers. I didn't want to alter my dash, so made a piece that clips into the ashtray. Works great and stashes safely with clocks attached in the glovebox.

Sorry for the crappy photo. Got another under construction from an old ashtray with the plate bolted directly to it.

great stuff Russ! i am trying to find ways to have my gear mounted in a totally reversible and non intrusive way (everything must be reversible on my car). i may need a bigger footprint to mount to than an ashtray though with the way things are headed
