Do you know why there were 2 flaps?

It's because the rally officials would "gig" you if you showed up at a checkpoint missing one. The co-pilot would check before they arrived and if it was missing he cut the leash on the spare!

These are some serious air inlets. This is the 1979 JLP 935. It had a 3.2 twin turbo that they claimed made 750 horsepower. The more interesting thing is that with Nitrous (which they never admitted to) it was over 1,000 horsepower. Of course that's just evil gossip.

    Tom, that is so cool.

Richard, evil gossip has it that the car ran on nitrous and white powder.

Like all good 935s of the era! At least it wasn't used in any bank robberies.

White powder and ziplock bags of leafy substance (very few stems or seeds).

Oh yeah, sure is nice to have a long backstraight handy.

Be very very careful. John Paul Sr. is still at large.

These guys were championship marijuana growers. Caves and grow lighting. I heard a tale about Sr's. car being worked on at Brumos. Had a noise or some wind issue. The mechanic was fiddling with the tach or speedometer and it popped out. Behind it was a stash of cash hurriedly put there by Sr. to evade the long arm of the law if stopped. He forgot that it had been left behind. That's a real sign that you are making TOO MUCH MONEY TOO EASILY. True story.

When I last saw the John Paul car (20 years ago) it was at Andial being restored.
