I can't find any MB expansion tanks that look like this. The BMW 2000CS does look familiar.

    2000CS used 2 distinct expansion tanks/fluid resevoirs.

    01 EXPANSION TANK 1
    34311100216 N/A ENDED (NLA)

    02 EXPANSION TANK
    34314650041 ($57.25)

    Good hunting!

Had no luck from the classic Mercedes and BMW experts, but have found out that they were made by ATE in Germany, so will try them. Thanks for the help.

I wonder if they were intended as clutch fluid resevoirs originally?

What ever it came off of had a lot of fluid volume. It had to be either a big car or something that had big brakes. Also it had to be from a pre 1968 single circuit brake system.

Tom put me on the trail of the BMW 2000CS reservoir put hard to judge the comparative size. ATE in Germany put the phone down when I tried to speak to them in English today!

    Here's the 2000CS version.

    Brake Reservoirs

    Mike

I have a NOS big reservoir, so its clean, and in my hand. I looked at it with a magnafying glass and I see min / max lines, the word ATE in big letters, under ATE is LOCKHEED, and under that is HYDRAULISCHE BREMSE no numbers or anything else. Does anyone know which set of brakes the big one supplies, front or back? I doubt this info will help much
