    Totally agree!

Nick, you posted exactly what I was thinking. Right on the money.

First step in a 12 step program!

Well, what I meant to say was that I'm looking when I'm "not looking"....

I should also say that I never have looked for any particular car (like a particular year or model) except for when I bought my Speedster....they were all cars that I "happened" upon.

And THERE you have the BEAUTY of our 'not looking' theory. If you ARE looking, you'll never 'happen upon' the jewels that appear BECAUSE you're not looking.

    1. Admitted I was powerless over Porsches, and....ONE is TOO many, and 1000 are not enuf!

Assets of all types are being repriced. The effect is not as pronounced at the tops and bottoms of various categories, but repricing is inevitable. Opportunity costs also take on more importance in the kind of environment. Someone who may have paid $4M for a collector car two years ago, may not now be interested in the same car today even at $3M, simply because those funds might be better deployed to another asset (eg: commodities, precious metals, etc). Of course, if you aren't buying or selling it doesn't matter.

Yes, prices will probably moderate a little..... but since restorations costs are so high I wouldn't expect a very high decline. Note that Tony's business at Autobahn interiors has never been better, but his cost of materials is rising.

    I'm still looking for cars.....

I am curious, what would be a typical full restoration cost now?

Powertrain, interior, suspension, paint and body, etc.

    Thanks,

Old News "Irrational Exuberance"- (Alan Greenspan-speak).

IF you are selling, you do it on the upward movement selling into strength and do not wait for a "topping". Last summer/fall was a good time to consider an exit if you were considering a sale. Flippers and "Johnny Come Lately" brokers always pile on to trends just like the fresh crop of real estate brokers coming into the business during this last boom (and now bust).
Any fool can be a salesman when you are taking orders. It's like fishing for sharks with chum and blood in the water.

The 911-S is holding its ground with but with no movement since January; The T and E models are off down 5% this month.

The best deals are still for Europeans taking cars "home again". Anyone doing it in reverse is likely getting taken to the woodshed.

My advice is to buy things you like and pay no attention to the markets UNLESS you do it for a living.

Family, Friends, Work, and then whatever is left over goes to hobbies etc. Work sometimes gets slid after hobbies, depending upon slow weeks at work.

A lot of friends are associated with the hobbies, so there is some overlap there....
