Shoulder Harness Bar or Harness Mounting Help

I need to install a shoulder harness in my LW coupe and need some help. I would prefer not drilling any holes in the rear parcel shelf, so need help with other options. The car has the complete rear interior stuff and seats removed and the only thing back there other than the roll bar is the LW carpet. The roll bar is a period style hoop with one diagonal from top behind the driver down to the base behind the passenger. One of the mounting points for the base of the roll bar are the two outboard rear seat mounting holes. I thought that I could mount a V style harness there, but am not too keen on that option since it is behind my left shoulder - too far offset.

The next idea was to mount one side of the harness to that point and the other to the inboard seat mounting points. But they are just hollow "pins" and not threaded for bolts, so that seems to be out. Next solution is to find a harness bar to go between my main roll bar verticals. Brey Krause does not have anything for an early car. Does anyone know of another harness bar solution out there? I really need something bolt in as I do not (more precisely, will not) weld on a bar. Personally, I like the period look of the roll bar and don't want a permanent cross member (harness bar). Plus, the bar is painted body color.

Can anyone help me with a solution?

    Scott,

You may try Dave at TRE. I know they make several different vintage style rollbars. I'm looking at these options as well. SWB cars have no provision on the B-pillar for seat belt posts.

Some pics of your current setup may be helpful for ideas.

Dave at TRE installed a custom bolt-in roll bar with a bolt-in cross brace w/fire extinguisher mount and bolt-in harness bar in my 911E for POC and PCA events. It's a work of art. Call him. 818-909-9220.

Thanks guys. I am hot on Dave's trail. Already sent him an email and will follow up with a phone call. Sandy, can you post a photo or two of his install on your car? Thanks.

    Scott,

Here are a couple pics Dave sent me about a year ago. This rollbar is shifted posteriorly away from the headrest, making it safer (but not risk free) for a dual street/track use rollbar. There are also attachment points to the B-pillar for 69+ cars. You can even get a bolt-in side/door bar for track use.

This is what I'm thinking of getting.

Let us know how you make out.

Have you checked to see if this factory drilled hole exists on your car?

    Jim,
Yes, I do have that, I think. As I was crawling over the back trying to figure out what the heck I am going to do to avoid drilling holes, I spotted this bump on the parcel shelf under my carpet. I have the complete rear interior deleted and covered by LW RS carpet. I looked in the engine compartment to see what that was and I see what looks like an angled hole that is somewhat reinforced (to my untrained eye). I could not see under the carpet since I didn't want to tear it up. Can someone elaborate on that mounting position and whether I can utilize that without modification? Is this something that I can simply screw in the eyebolt in the picture and be good to go? My car is a very early 69MY, #54.

Currently, I am planning having a cross bar fabricated that will mount to my roll bar attach point, which is the outboard rear seat mounting points. Any help with understanding that mounting solution shown above would be a huge help. Thanks.
