The visibility through that mirror is tiny. They're on both sides too. Ridiculous.

I couldn't agree more Jim, it's still pretty exciting but, they need to do something. I really wish that we had more classic historic rallies and hillclimbs like the Euros have. I would love to attend something like that. Do you know anything cool like that in the Northeast?

    Best, Jens

Jens - I do in fact, and it's right up in your neck of the woods too. John Buffum has been the rally master for the Winter Challenge Rally for the past several years, and it's scheduled for Feb 15, 2014. It's a TSD rally that used to start at 7pm and ran through the night, ending at 7am the next morning. Last year they moved the start ahead to 2pm, and it finished at 1am. Because of the challenging roads and the time of year, it is quite hard to stay "on time". Last year it was about 250 miles in length, and this was roughly the area covered - "The rally will go no further east than St. Johnsbury, VT; no further north than Lyndonville, VT; no further west than Barre, VT; and no further south than Tunbridge, VT."

I've been getting the car prepped for rallies, and I'm hoping to be able to do the Winter Challenge, but probably won't be ready for the Feb '14 event. I'm trying to get some less strenuous rallies under my belt before attempting this one. This is a NER/SCCA sanctioned rally, they do 7 or 8 rallies a year in New England, and I'm hoping to see more vintage cars participating in the future.

edit: There's also the New England Forest Rally based at Sunday River Ski Resort in Maine the end of July. Mason and I usually go up for a few days to watch/help out. It's a Rally America event, and most of the top cars are new factory backed 4WD entries. But they do have a 2wd class that attracts some vintage cars - and it's always fun watching the opposite lock action through the turns.
