    Weber white corrosion

I suppose there is someone that knows how to stop the white corrosion that old Webers develop after they get wet. Richard Parr says there is no permanent fix, please say it isn't so!

Are you just storing them or are you planning on using them?

That would be called "bloom". It happens to aluminum parts that are exposed to the elements. Magnesium really breaks down. I believe Cornpanzer has some photos of a mag wheel that is all but gone.

WD40 works fine. I use it to keep my BMW engine cases tidy.

    weber white corrosion

The real issue is corrosion within the body and that it needs to be arrested. I think there is a chemical (intergranular?) issue that is at work here. I have removed the brass and lead plugs in the body in preparation for a dip process, perhaps a dilute muratic acid? I've already chased the internal passageways clear of this crud.
