Yeah, illegal now but probably grandfathered in. I've heard about gas vapors gathering at the bottom... For me mostly that pit-type isn't "that" useful - oil changes and that's it. You can't do tires or anything else...

A 4 post lift can do it all if equipped with sliding jacks (stack cars, lift it up and do wheels and engine drop), or a scissor lift can do all of that minus the stacking for a lot less money and space (but you need to partially bury it or have ramps). Then again *I* might not have the gonads to lift my tubular frame 300SL if I had one ;-)

Why yes...it's a work in progress. The fender is off until I plumb the clutch & brake master cylinders.

    Grease Pit

As for a "grease pit" in the floor, here's a good reason make sure everyone knows it's there.

Nothing to match the previous picture, but I have been asked to share more pictures of a garage/ workshop I recently completed. It is a Post and Beam barn supplied by Sand Creek Post and beam, built by a subcontractor for me here. Pictures show some of the in-progress and more recent pictures. It essentially has bays for three cars, four if one is on the lift, as well as a drive through in the middle, work and storage areas on one side, a sitting area with a Fuch's lamp, and a lounge/TV area upstairs with view of the Texas Hill Country.
