Thread: Extended hub wood wheel

    Thumbs up Extended hub wood wheel

    I had never seen and extended hub wood wheel and thought the listing for one on my COA was another typo from Porsche. That was until I received a photocopy of the original Kardex that confirmed that my car had been delivered with one of these rare wheels.

    I just assumed I'd never see one, much less acquire one, but David Siebert just happened to have one for sale on this board. You don't have to ask me twice and I picked it up on the spot. For those interested, here are some photos:

    No date code! Is it hiding under the spacer? We'll never know...

    Thanks to David for contributing yet another rare bit to my late '65 production year '66 car!

    alu w/ extended hub

    Kenik,

    FYI I have a alu wood wheel w/ extended hub. Prior to getting it I had no idea that it existed.

    Regards

    You answered my next question before I asked it! Mine is clearly steel, which is more correct for my car than the aluminum, thus I am very happy.

    Great info!

    Kenik;

    If you haven't already:

    Get in touch with Dave "cornpanzer" to aquire the aluminium spacer that you'll need to mount any horn pad or puck. I purchased one for my new to me extended hub 400mm leather wheel.

    I already own two of Dave's kits. I was going to use one on my regular wood wheel to extend it. Now that I have this wheel, I don't need it, so it will be up for sale. This factory wheel works perfectly as-is with my existing puck and butterfly.
