    Darn good question! My wood wheel reads "952", and I can't find a date code anywhere. By the way, my wheel has a butterfly centre, which I assume is incorrect for a '67S??
    Thanks.

    I have about 9 wood wheels right now (I think...), they all have these odd numbers stamped into them, they didn't match the car they came out of from what I can determine (I know the serial number of a couple of the cars). Not sure what the story is on them....

    As far as the 67, yes the butterfly is correct.

    My original wood wheel is #2929

    Maybe we can get a wheel # / vin # correlation ?

    Who was it that made the steering wheels ? Was it the factory or an outside supplier ?

    Johnson states that the butterfly was intr. in 65 (for 66 MY) and that both the hockey puck and the butterfly were used through 68.

    Eric, I was in no way directing that specifically to your post.

    I was only putting out some information I had come across.
    In any case it was not "me" that "said" it - it was Dr. B. Johnson. (pg 58, lower right).

    Best;
