    '71 S Bumper

i have a 1971 911 S targa. At one point the car had some front end damage/repair. It currently has a front bumper with the "split chin spoiler" of the 72 & 73 911 S. My bumper is made of fiberglass. (i know there is some question as to wether the first 72 S cars got fiberglass or steel bumpers)

First: Did any 1971 S cars get this type of bumper/spoiler (either steel or fiberglass)?

If they did i have 2 theories: #1 it is original (doubtful considering the apparent damage to the front end) #2 it originally had a bumper like this (either steel or fiberglass) which was damaged and replaced with this one.

Also: Did porsche ever offer a fiberglass replacement down the road?

If they didn't i guess ill be looking for an original style bumper

    I had one...

I had an original factory glass S-bumper on this car. It was "very" heavy, almost as if they made it that way on purpose.

It had numbers molded into it and was clearly a factory piece, not aftermarket. I say that not for the doubters... simply because you could tell when you looked at it that this was not an aftermarket piece. If you have one, you'll know it's real just by looking at it.

    Way heavy. Way thick.

Could you tell me where the numbers were molded into the bumper? I'm selling an 'S' split-spoiler bumper that weighs 20lbs (twenty). It's incredibly sturdy, if you didn't know it were fiberglass you'd think it was steel.

    Cheers,
