Thanks Andy, I'm hearing outrageous claims for their decibel levels, I wonder if anybody here has actually used them?

Mike - when I got my 914/6 GTR racer on megaphones I tested the noise level ... it was 140 dB at 5000 rpm !!
I have these megaphones you can try out for sound if you like :

Andy, the European seller of the above baffled megaphones is claiming a decibel level of 102db!!! I can only image he means each........
That's the reason for trying to track down the manufacturer or a least someone who's actually used or heard them.

Guys-
Look closer at the original exhausts mentioned. These have subtle internal baffling and what looks like an additional fiber packing. Internally they appear to be same ID as the main exhaust. The second set is just like mine... straight "cookie cutters", which flare out and have nothing at all to reduce the noise level. [I love them but can't use them anywhere except to terrorize my neighbors and rattle my house.].
I can't image they quiet things down very much but the idea is appealing. Anyone using the FIRST set that can share?
JR
Just had a e-mail from Phyllis at GT Racing who sell the set pictured at the beginning of this thread, she says they are "about 100 decibles" now excuse me if I'm being a bit cynical here but surely that can't be right, does anybody here have any experience of them!

they ARE 100 dB
.... as long as you are far, far away
Mike:
This Spiral Flow Moroso muffler is an option to consider. When I talked with their tech line the guy said after my pressing him pretty hard that this muffler drops the sound 5-7 db from an open exhaust. It will still be pretty loud I think.
I am working on fitting dual Flow Master Race Mufflers which fit nicely under the car and end up with a nice 2.5" pipe coming out under the bumperette position. I am also planning on installing a crossover 1.5" pipe between these 2 mufflers which functions as a support where it attaches to the engine bracket. It may soften the noise and do some balancing, but maybe not. It will be interesting to see how it performs.
Both of these can be found at Summit Racing.
