Thread: Need pics of original, naked '73 RS interior

    What was the process?

    Raj,
I've seen this car many times while it was being restored. The web photos make the black look glossy, but it is actually satin. On what basis can you say that the "process would not match period"? Please enlighten us, what exactly was the process. Photos?

    Hi Frank,

Yes, my car has a layer of tar paper(?) on the floor over body color paint. Would you like a photo of this?

Isn't this material considered sound insulation? I assume this was added to the cars that were converted to M472.

So... series 1 cars had tar inside? There seems to be debate on this?

No debate Frank its a given.......I'll help Brian out here is the passenger floor of RS #197 every 73 car I have owned (5) has had the same material on the floor and its NEVER painted body colour.

The pics of the green 73 confuses the hell out of me I have never seen a 73 with body colour on the inside floor.

That white RSR restoration should not ahve black paint over the inspection plate area at the rear of the tunnel. They were body colour there see the earlier pic of the black car on the rotissarie you can see the back end of the tunnel is body colour red

    Rs floor interior

This is #406 before stripping. You can see reinforcing on rear tunnel area plus creasing of tunnel in front of reinforcing from earlier accident.
This rear tunnel area is original light yellow, however tunnel forward of this looks to be black, and floor seems to have black tar covering.

This looks very similar to the flat6 car with red interior before restoration.

We are about to paint my car so any photos of original RS shell
with original paint and markings would be helpful.

    Disassembly photos of RS 1018

    Frank,
Here are a few shots of the interior of 1018 when we were taking it apart and preparing it for restoration. I hope these are helpful. Let me know if you need any more detail shots. I have hundreds of photos of the disassembly and restoration. Are you going to Sebring?
