    Original Hockey Puck Question

I just bought this hockey puck here on earlyS and it doesn't have the slots for attaching the chrome trim, what do I have here? Can I just add the slots with a dremel or do I need a different chrome trim piece?

Mike I have the same and the chrome ring has no tabs just a pressure fit. I got it at the Pomona Swap Meet years ago and just assumed they were all the same. Not

mike when i saw that you bought this puck. i was wondering if you know what you are buying.
i`d say it`s eighter a 68 only item(not sure if in 68 the puck was an option).....my68 also had this non slot version...many years ago i did reproduce the puck...unfortunatly useing a non slot as tamplate(did not know that there was a slot version)...
    or a very early one
the inlay is press fit and glued to the puck--maybe they figured that this solution is not long lasting.and they introduced the slot/tab puck

there is at least 3 different puck versions one version has a almost not present step

I have three of these with the almost non present step on the puck. I know one came from a 68 912 and the other two, I bought somewhere online. All have the tabbed ring too...cliff
Would a reproduced tabbed ring for 45$ from Zuffenhausen, on eBay work with the tabs snipped off? Rather then the dremel tool fix!?

Looks like snipping the tabs might work but to be safe I am going to add the slots for them.

You might want to take a measurement between the friction fit ring and the tabbed ring. Or a tabbed non-tabbed puck. ASIR there is a bit of a size difference. I most certainly would not cut the tabs off of an original tabbed ring. I once had issues with the fit when trying to do the swap you are considering. It could have just been my circumstances and yours will differ.

I need to replace the leather center on a non tabbed hockey puck.
Is there any good technique to remove the chrome ring without damaging it?
It seems to be glued in pretty securely.

    Thanks
