    value of a bastard?

have a 73Sthat has been turned into somewhat of a 73/74 rs clone,I put pics on Pelican on a thred called introducing my new toy and I don't know how to provide a link.
I am thinking to sell as I can't afford to keep both this car and my 87 conv but values I guess would determine which one goes.Iknow you guys are the experts and just wondered what your thoughts would be.Thanks in advance,Marty

Sorry guys,John brought to my attention that I should introduce myself before asking opinions which makes perfect sense,I forgot that having a new user name would change my post counts as I have actually been a member for a couple of years under the name martin aide, couldn't pull it up one day so seemed easier to change it so Happy New Year everyone,Marty

Happy New Year Marty. I would keep the longhood and sell the 87. But you are asking the early crowd here, so chances are the majority opinion will be similar.
What do you want to do with it? Daily driver? Hibernate in winter? You are in Toronto area? You have driven both early and 87. What is your preference?

    Look at this thread
    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ead.php?t=2248
83 posts on how to post pics, etc etc. should get you over the hump.

I would also recommend that you go back and contact the moderator on changing your password so that you can keep using your old handle "martin aide" as you already have a history of 30 odd posts there. Interesting reading about and I remember some of them about your T with E engine, and MFI vs Carbs etcetera.

From pelican you say that you have an E with E engine that is repainted in Gemini. Do you still have it or is it gone? You did go to MFI on this in the end?

    Best of luck.

    value of a bastard?

    Greetings...

From the pictures on Pelican, you appear to have a car that looks like a great basis for a restoration. My thoughts:

    1) The engine and related components appear basically stock and untouched (other than the large hose connected to the air cleaner)

    2) Nice looking interior with a Sport Seat

    3) Chassis photos look OK other than all of the 74 add-ons

    Questions:

    1) Any significant rust?

    2) Would you ever plan to put the body back to original (correct rear fenders, correct rear bumper/license panel, correct original rear deck lid)?

If you did all of the above and got the correct wheels, you'd have something worth much more than the mixed bag you have now. If it was not in what appears to be such good shape, the effort might not be nearly as worthwhile.

My guess on value when all put back to stock is ~$45,000 to $55,000 in this economy. In its current form, maybe $25,000?

Best of luck with your project either way.

I don't know if I agree with your value Peter. I just spent the last 60 days looking at numerous 69-73 911s, from stockers to hot rods. I flew twice to 2 different cities and lined up 3 cars at each city before I commited to purchasing an airplane ticket. I looked at another 12 to 15 cars here locally in Southern California. And I am a picky person. I finally bought a car last weekend in the Bay area. But my point is, if this car is clean and has little or no rust with a proper respray. I'd pay 35K for this 911S Bastard all day long depending on those preceeding factors. In fact I'd throw rocks at the car I just bought if I could get this one for 25K. Just my .02

Hi guys, thanks for your insight, the car has no rust at all and the paint although not the original colour is pretty much perfect.Whether I keep the car or not I will change the rear bumper as soon as I can find one but as far as the rest of the look,I like it and I know it could be brought back anytime although that might not be a job for me.The first value seems to be a bit of a turn off but I guess everyone has different opinions which is why I asked.
thanks again marty BTW.there is only one sport seat, would this be original as they both look like they match?

I pretty much bet that putting a stake in the sand would generate another opinion. Gsjohnson, thanks for stating it.

Here are the other pics, by the way...

Thanks Peter. My original budget was 25K, but I couldn't find a decent car for that money. I got frustrated and convinced the wife that I needed to move the budget to 30K. Then I started seeing a few decent cars, but still they were few and far between. And of course every seller thinks his car is super nice.
