RS and RSR steering wheel geeks and others,

I thought I'd keep this thread alive with some photos of my authentic RSR, Part number 914 347 803 10 with a 4 '72 date code. I had my secret source in the South remove the original leather, which had a hole in it, and preserve the original felt and then DUPLICATE the original leather cover. IMHO, he did a GREAT Job. Check it out ! Thanks.

Wow, what a fabulous wheel. Great wrap job. Your secret source has done you proud. I'd love to take that wheel, Mark Motshagen's fan, and Harvey's wheels and hang them on the wall as art!

I hesitate to show my wheel in such close proximity to that beauty, but here is the hub, basking in all its patina'd glory, showing the standard 806 10 number. It's date-stamped the same as the other parts on my car (wheels, throttle bodies, etc.) so I'm pretty certain it's original.

No, glad you showed it ! It is, of course, an authentic RS Wheel, to match your RS we gather. Cool! Thanks!

Great wheel Allen. Looks really-really well done. Nice to see that you were finally able to convince him not to pad the spokes! =)

I have the same wheel in which the leather has shrunk up. I tried treating it and re-stretching, but just cant get it to come back. Shame to replace the OEM leather, but looks like I will need to.

Thanks Dave ! My (our?) secret source now is willing to do the next one like this....for me anyway But then I'm one of his best and long-time customers.....I think. If you're sendng one in, I'm happy to put in a good word. The spoke leather is also shorter than "standard," but virtually identical now to the "real RSR deal."

Here is a photo of the wheel from a highly original RS that was produced very early in the second series. It is one of the original RS touring cars delivered to Sweden and still in Sweden and belongs to a good friend of mine. Note the date code, January 1973
    Thanks.

That only confirms what I know to be true , 806 10 is the only wheel
used on an RS and date changed away from ?/70 at some stage late
    in the first series.

+1 and I agree. The only reason I think (or thought anyway) that 914 347 805 10 also came on the RS's was from prior input on this thread. Now of course there were 1580, I believe RSs, so surely no one person has seen too many with their horn pads off and noted the numbers. Thanks.
