Not to belabor the obvious, but if he's looking for an insurance value then; who cares? He's going to have an agreed value policy I'd assume, which means it's worth whatever he decides to insure it for more or less.

Here is a link to a thread about the black paint under the engine grill.
Black paint
I hope the paint is original. There's always something new to learn on these cars.
What a great car. Original cars are a treasure.

Not exactly.
The insuring company must agree to the value of the vehicle before an Agreed Value Policy is issued.
Of course, the insurance company should be a recognized insurance carrier in your state. Otherwise, you will find no help in a claim dispute. At this time, the policy must be carefully read so as not to find any exclusions that can lower, or entirely void, the amount covered in the insuring agreement. If the company is domiciled in another country (i.g., Lloyds of London), you'll need to seek damages in another country should there be any disputes.
Nonetheless, I think he is seeking an opinion as to the car's market value?

I had to justify the agreed value that I was seeking for my '67 with Hagerty. They at first thought it was on the high side until I provided more information. I imagine whatever we come up with here will be a big factor in establishing value.
What I have taken from the discussion so far is that it's probably worth $80-$90K if the paint is original and perhaps 50% less if not. Thanks for the input - I have forwarded it on to Dennis.

John,
I do not agree with that. I do not think the discount for non-original paint is 50%. That seems high.

I have just seen the Bahama yellow 67S and all is true. beautiful, original car. In the Syosset showroom so if in NY, please come by and take a look. The best out there by far! As for the deckled, original '67 bahama yellow finish. No Black out ever was there. Some have them some do not. The car makes me smile every time I walk past it.
CAR HAS LEFT.
