    Porsche 928 test mule disguised in an Audi 100 S.

    Towards the end of 1973 Porsche starts the test of the future front engined grand touring model. These test took place somewhere in Africa -first pic- and in the Mont Ventoux in France -second pic-.





    There was up to three evolutions of this mule called V3, V4 and V5 in which they tested different V8 engines carburetion and injection, manual or automatic transmissions, transaxle or conventional arrangement, suspension setups, track width and wheelbase, etc.





    The transaxle layout feature exposed.



    More recent pictures taken at Central Garage Automuseum in Bad Hambourg.







    Apparently it was destroyed in a fire that took place there in 2011.

    And afaik the others have been scrapped at Adalbert Rohn (he also was Porsche addicted) scrapyard back then.
