As long as I still have my hands on several hundred of Coops shots, I can't find any reason not to continue this thread. Going through these photos is what I imagine it would be like walking through the paddock at Le Mans, Spa or the Nurburgring in the early '70s.

Even though I had a lot of great shots to work from for the article, I wanted more Porsche shots. So, I asked Coop to keep digging. What he came up with was more than I could have hoped for. He found several contact sheets with negatives from Spa, Monaco and a few others tracks. I hope to share some of those in the future. For now, here's a few of my favorite outtakes:

    1. Formula 1 shot of Dan Gurney... not sure of the date
    2. Denis Hulme and a couple of friends
    3. Porsche Pit at (Spa 1971)
    4. Porsche racing chief Huschke von Hanstein at Le Mans 1968 (I think)

    and, the best for last...
    5. Pedro Rodríguez through La Source at Spa, 1970 (what a shot!)

Photo #3 is Spa 1971, where the Wyer team also had a 917K wearing number 20. You can see Derek Bell's helmet as he waits to get into the car. Siffert's co-driver in 1970 was Redman. Another dead-giveaway: the pits at Spa run downhill, the pits at Le Mans run slightly uphill... I agree with Chuck about the Excellence piece. The composition is first-rate! Keep them coming.

Thanks for the correction... Shucks, I didn't know Coop was at Spa then. Coops memory isn't what it used to be

Brilliant stuff! The first photo is one of the most definitive shots of The Bear's Fangio-esque sang-froid I've seen. 1970? I got to see him in the Can-Am M8F and M20 and he just made it look so easy. Thank you for sharing, Mark. This is really a treat -- David
