Okay, you've stumped the new guy. What is charter oak and nutmeg?

Sorry, I thought this was a CT based car - thought the PO was in the Watertown area.

At any rate I recommend that you immediately buy the two following books:

    1. The 911 & 912 PORCHE A Restorer's Guide to Authenticity by Dr. B. Johnson This the best book to get '71 (or other) model year specific details of trim and parts sorted out.

    2. Buying Driving and Enjoying the PORSCHE 911 and 912 1965-1973 by James E. Schrager. This is the best all-around book. It covers alot of driveability issues as well as many of the detail differences between years. As a side benefit, Schrager is partial to the '71 911T.

IMHO these are authoritative, detail oriented reference books and are required reading before you start doing anything to your 911. They will save you alot of potentially costly mistakes.

It is a CT car and it did come from that area although from what I can tell it just passed through a couple of sets of hands quickly before me from a long-time owner in Pleasantville.

Thanks for the reading list. Is there a Bentley manual for this car? I see the Haynes, but not the Bentley. I've used the Bentley religiously on my SC.
