What I notice is that the completion date is early June, the 2nd to be more specific while it didn't sell till May the 26th a year later.
304365 was completed on June the 2nd too, 304375 was completed on June the 5th.
Interesting .. 304780 vs 304365 are roughly 400 numbers apart, completed on the same day but sold so much later.

The penmanship looks different than the other Deluxes! Also, where is the 1967 stamp?.....Cliff
The stamp is probably not there since this car had no warranty claims. Also, where is the 1967 stamp?.....Cliff

I noticed that on mine.
Well they'd have to be shipped to the US of course, but there is clearly more to it than that. Perhaps it is linked to the whole restyling/modified model thing. I agree it does seem a long time nonetheless.

Greetings,
Despite some first-post apprehension, I have a question…
After reading this thread, I took a closer look at my spare 901 boxes in the garage, and noticed something interesting. I found an aluminum 902/1 gearbox (serial # 231413) with a circular (date) stamp of 13/66.
I've posted pictures at

Is this relevant to the discussion, or merely a coincidence?
Regards,
Ian
So, conclusion is that a thing as 'de luxe' doesn't exist...
Just 4 presumed cars in the gray area of model change.
We all know that around model changes / year changes strange things happened, parts carried over etc.
For 912's in mid 1968 there was a significant change in set up.
I know of a few cars which are not 'before' and not 'after'.
Are these undocumented very special and rare mid '68 model change proto type's? (here uncovered...)
I don't think so...
I'm thinking just a coincidence though, that transmission happens to be in the correct numerical range for a 66 911- others know for sure. The 13/66 is more than likely week 13 of 1966 which is probably when the deluxe as referred to on a Factory Kardex! I own one and everything points to a set-aside car with unique features not normaly randomly found on one car. Probably a still born idea, God only knows. I've always thought that my car at least was built for a specific use, either by the Factory or some customer or more than Likely both. Your 1366 is merely the date of manufacture/casting ? of your transmission. If I did not already have a close enough transmission for mine I could be interested as a buyer of yours'. Cliff

Another interesting take on this was in the winter 2011 issue of "Classic Porsche". In 1964 the planned model range was to include three cars, the 'standard' was to be a 4 cylinder, painted rim, leatherette interior, wooden wheel version. The 'deluxe' was the 130 h.p. 6 cylinder, leather interior, and chrome rims. The third version was supposed to be the 'S' 150 h.p. version. Of course we all know what happened to those plans. Don't where the author got his information, but it all sounds plausible.
