Uncovered! Short-lived third model: The 1967 911 deLuxe"

Hallo to everybody,
I own two deLuxe 911 in rough condition before restoration and it was interesting to read all the informations in this Forum. Especially the pricelist shows that the "de Luxe "configuration was quite expensive in comparison to the normal configuration, nearly as expensive as the S-model. Perhaps it will be a good idea to contact Mr. White "the White". In his Internet page he shows the brochures of that time and especially the 912 de Luxe brochure could give interesting advises. It is an all colour brochure of may 66 and he shows also some other brochures of the 911 of that time.
Perhaps someone knows Mr. White and can ask him to share his knowledge.

Congratulations on having not one but two deLuxes! Please post photos and details of each car when and if you feel like it. In fact, I have contacted Charlie White who we know from 356 circles. He does have some 911 material but doesn't believe he has what we are looking for although he did say he doesn't know ALL that he has. Yes, indeed, the "deLuxe," was IMHO at least as luxurious as the 911S and certainly more so than than the new "normal" 911. To sell them, a Porsche marketing guru came up with the deLuxe name after the fact, that is after they were built and probably some were even on the showroom floor. Thanks!

He does have some 911 material but doesn't believe he has what we are looking for although he did say he doesn't know ALL that he has. when you look the pages of Charlie White you will find a brochure from May 66 under point 28 which is called "Deluxe all color sales brochure". It refers to the 912 but probably the reason why 912 models from May 66 are called Deluxe models are the same like 911 Deluxe models are called like this.
Beside the Deluxe theme Charlies pages show a lot of interesting brochures. It would be nice if he would publish more than the covering page.

I believe that "deLuxe" refers to the brochure itself, not the 912. Further, I THINK, Mr. White is calling the brochure "deLuxe," that is the brochure itself is not titled deLuxe. THe ONLY Porsche AG reference I think we have found so far to the deLuxe 911 is on some U.K. price lists which are referred to in some detail ealier in this thread and on Kardex, of course. I don't believe we've seen ANY marketing material with a description or, otherwise, mention of the "1967 deLuxe 911." If a customer asked he might have been given a 1966 Model Year brochure and told, "the deLuxe is just like this one." Danke.

Yes, the title "deluxe" to a brochure is just a description of an item..It does not state any Deluxe model in it neither the brochure itself is officially called deluxe.
With brochures there were several printed within a manufactor year and market. One was usually pretty standard, another usually a simple foldout and again another one much nicer done: better pics, better paper, bigger format etc: So some people in the scene call this type of brochure "deluxe": to distinguish it to other ones.

I know because I have them all and quite a few pictured at Charlie's site are mine.
We are currently working on a new literature website based in France which will show in details -almost- all literature 63-73 ever produced, stay tuned.

Have you all seen this listing on Bring a Trailer today for a "1966 911 Coupe"? It includes a Kardex for a 1967 R.S. 911 de Luxe. COA also lists it as a 1967 de Luxe.

As of 13 February 2016 there's an auction at Bring a Trailer for a 1966 Porsche 911. Except that it was built late in the '66 model year there's nothing really unusual about it but written across the top of the Kardex it says "Modell 1967 911 de Luxe R.S.Ex 13/66"

Yep, one of 253 (304703-304955) last 1966 Model Year Porsches Kardex labelled "1967 911 de Luxe." All just "ordinary" 1966 MY featured cars but apparently sold as 1967 models, along with the 1967 (normal with alu dash) and the new 1967 911S. STILL looking for Rundschreiben (sales circular) 13/66 (#13 for 1966) It's out there somewhere !!! Below is 304736 (pix from the ad) BTW. Thanks.
