Paul, the stalks are actually within reach but a streach, biggass paws notwithstanding. 4 1/2" and 4 1/4" distance.

Raj, the hub stack is built up out of my collection of hubs and spacers and adapters. It's a matter of finding compatible bolt circles and aesthetics; whatever looks good to you. I was just screwing around with these pieces and found what works for me with the Ickx wheel. I've got pretty long skinny arms (and some medical issues). I could physically reach a stock wheel location, but this is so-o-o much better and doesn't obscure the instrument view at all.

The shift knob is an early 911 light alloy prototype. Exactly the same dimensions as their early bakelite shift knobs (which were probably lighter), and hand polished over the years by heavy use. (Grin)

Raj, I just bought a nice, new Nardi wood wheel from a wheel dealer in FLA.

The wheel seems too close to the dash, about a half inch from the wheel back to the dash top.

Is this normal? Is there a spacer that is used?

The wheel is dished and sold to fit a 911. Mine is a 70T.

Raj- I'll post a pic on Saturday. The car is in storage still but here is link with several good shots:

I slipped the wheel on and was really disappointed with the clearance. At least I have the original coming back, recovered by Tony Garcia.
I likely will need a spacer of some sort, if I can get a call back from the guy.

Fran, do an ebay search. You're looking for a 75mm bolt circle, of course, and an overall diameter that will match what you have as an adapter. they're out there. Or, get a much longer adapter. A half inch from the dash isn't really enough usable space to drive the car.

Raj, my setup is actually 4 pieces stacked up to get what I wanted. Truth is I have a lot of-off beat pieces and parts to work with and I could have gotten there several different ways. You really should give me that adapter you have.

Got my new wheel, MoMo 380mm LeMans, from Mark today and mated it to my solid hub and silver ring horn button. Love it! Thanks Mark!

Jens' If I get a thicker spacer how does the hub attach to the splined column? Won't I run out of column...Probaly a dumb question given how deep Raj's set up is.

Well Fran, you don't space the hub adapter from the mounting plane of the steering column, otherwise you would run out of spline. Rather, you add the spacer(s) on the other end where the wheel itself mounts to get the distance you want. Longer screws, spacers with threaded mounting holes, or whatever you can devise to get the desired result. Good luck with it!

(didn't see your reply Raj, but yeah, the same thing)
