My understanding is that on the early cars like this one pictured, it would have had gold insignia on the decklid and the individual P-O-R-S-C-H-E letters on the 911, 911L, and 911S standard. The 911T came with the silver 911T badge and individual letters standard. I'm not sure if you could get a gold 911T badge.

The Gold Plate Crest Badge was only offered as an opton on the newly discovered "Deluxe" Edition and as such is a very rare badge. Rumor has it though that Mattel made a very close replica of this badge in the early nineties that was used for their unsuccessful launch of the Monster Transformer series.
    Currently:
    67 3.6 Rocket "Silver"
62 T6 Outlaw Coupe "ole Yellow"
65 F100 Custom Cab Flairside Shortbed

Gone but not forgotten in last 2 years:
    67S Concours King
    67 912 Vintage Racer
    68 912 Flipper
    83 911SC
    93 Mo30 968

    too many cars before that

On my '70, the individual P-O-R-S-C-H-E letters, the 911T badge and the Sportomatic badge are all in gold. The 911T Registry's website has a '70 options/accessories manual uploaded (http://www.911t.org/options/default.htm) that shows "Gold "PORSCHE" Nameplate and Model Number" as an option available individually or as part of the Appearance Group. As my car was ordered with the Appearance Group, I'm guessing that's how my car ended up with the gold badging.

My '70T has gold badging. According to the COA it has the Appearance Group.

    Photoshop tone job

hope you don't mind but it looked like it would display much better with a tone setting.
    Cheers,

    Badging

My 911T has the PORSCHE in gold letters and the 911T in silver letters. The CoA says "Comfort Package for 911T". From my research earlier on the registry it was built in either May or June of 1971.
