Thread: Heat...

    Heat...

When my daughter is travelling with me, on the back seat of my 911, she sometimes complaints about the hot metal hinges (dunno if this is the proper word) of the rear seats. She got one soft burn on one arm once...
Any thoughts on this subject? Anyone had the same problem?

    Thanks,
    Vasco Ricardo

    Vasco,

Although I haven't traveled in the back of a 911 in some time let me take a guess...

I would think that if your girl's arms are coming close to the rear seat back hinge bolts; the outside ones are close to upper end of the heat exchangers/ heater vents, and the inside ones are close to the differential - the consistently hottest part of the driveline.

    ...... again, just a guess

    Cheers

Vasco, maybe try having your daughter ride up front with you...

I am with Chuck on this one. I do believe that he has found the culprit.

Cool ...but how do I solve it?

    Thanks Chuck!
    Hi Scott!

YES, that's should be the problem Chuck, but how do I solve it?
I guess I could get a sort of an "extra-cushion" over the rear seats...
But I'd like to know if other members of the forum had this same problem with they sons, daughters or rear passengers in general, and how did they solve it.
Or am I the only guy driving with kids in the back of my 911?!

First, get it on a lift and inspect underneath the area, make sure everything is as it should be.
You may try some heat reflective insulated padding, the kind that is used to protect from hot exhaust. Some types have a adhesive backing that you can stick up underneath the bottom of the car. Clean the area very well prior to application. Where to get it? I Googled "Adhesive exhaust heat shield" found this
